Welcome to Hagley Theatre Company, located at Champion Street, Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we offer a rare and unique opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in a creative, challenging, and supportive environment. Hagley Theatre Company is a self-contained and independent training and performance program affiliated with Hagley College in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand. With over 30 years of expertise, we have been providing young people from all over the country with expert tuition and contemporary performance experiences. In 2018, we celebrated our 30th anniversary, marking three decades of empowering aspiring artists.

Our program is designed to offer a hands-on approach, ensuring that students gain valuable skills across all areas of theatre. Whether it's acting, directing, stage design, or production, our comprehensive curriculum prepares individuals for a successful career in the arts industry. Curtis, a Cook Island Māori director with 20 years of experience in the New Zealand film industry, is just one example of the talented professionals who have been part of our institution.

At Hagley Theatre Company, we believe in the power of practical learning and the importance of friendship and camaraderie. Many of our alumni, even those who graduated over 20 years ago, still rely on the skills they acquired during their time with us in their everyday work in film and television. Our institution truly serves as an excellent gateway into the arts industry in New Zealand.
