About the Business
Welcome to Russley School, located at 75 Cutts Road, Christchurch, New Zealand. As a primary school established in 1963, we cater to students from Years 1 to 8 and have a roll of approximately 420-480 students. Our school is situated in the north-west of Christchurch, providing a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
At Russley School, we believe in creating a positive and nurturing atmosphere for our students. Our school rebuild has given us the opportunity to design a new logo that reflects our brand new facilities and embodies the Te Parito Kōwhai perspective of our school name. We invite you to watch a short video from Principal Greg Lewis, where he presents the proposed new logomark for our school.
Te Parito Kōwhai Russley School is proud to embrace a dual name, symbolizing growth and rejuvenation from the center of the Kōwhai tree. This concept is deeply ingrained in our approach to education, as we encourage our learners to develop positive attitudes towards learning and strive for personal growth.
Our school boasts 20 well-equipped classrooms, two halls, a library, and two spacious playing fields, providing ample space for student recreation and various activities. We believe in offering a holistic education, and our facilities support this vision.
To guide our educational practices, Russley School has established four strategic goals that shape everything we do. We foster dispositions such as respect, self-awareness, self-management, teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By instilling these values in our students and staff, we create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are passionate about education and work collaboratively to provide the best possible learning experiences for our students. They are supported by a highly competent Board of Trustees and an enthusiastic parent community. Together, we form the Russley team, dedicated to nurturing and empowering our students to reach their full potential.
Cultural diversity is celebrated at Russley School, as our student whānau come from all corners of the world. We believe in fostering an inclusive and multicultural environment where students can learn from one another's backgrounds and experiences.
For our youngest learners in Years 1 and 2, we provide an exciting and enriching introduction to school life. Through play, exploration, and targeted teaching, our students experience a diverse range of activities across the curriculum, setting a strong foundation for their future education.
In Team Roto, our students are encouraged to actively participate in their learning journey. They are given opportunities to embrace new challenges and engage in a place-based curriculum, connecting their learning to the world around them.
