Welcome to BestStart Hei Hei, a wonderful institution located at 16 Hei Hei Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and educational environment for children of all ages.

One of our standout features is our lovely outdoor area, which boasts an abundance of fruit trees. We have a special secret garden where children can learn about sustainability by growing their own fruits and vegetables and tending to our worm farm. Additionally, we are fortunate to have various animals throughout our center that the children enjoy taking care of.

Our four classrooms work closely together, emphasizing the importance of tuakana teina relationships. We aim to provide a smooth transitioning practice where children and their families feel supported, well-informed, and involved in their child's development.

In the Tui Room, we understand the significance of creating a respectful environment for our youngest children. We take the time to get to know each child and their home life, ensuring they feel a strong sense of belonging in our care. Building relationships with their teachers is a priority, particularly during special care moments.

The Kiwi Room is designed for children aged one to two, with a focus on building reciprocal bonds and supporting their learning, wants, and needs. We utilize our environment to facilitate growth and prepare children for their transition to the preschool environment.

For children aged two to three and a half, we have the Kea Room. Here, we provide an inclusive environment that caters to the needs and interests of each child, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being. We prioritize routines and independence, allowing children to develop their responsibilities within the Kea Room.

Our final room is for children aged 3.5 to 6, where we support their readiness for school through BestStart's Be School Ready program. We value relationship building and focus on developing children's social and emotional competence, as well as their respect for themselves, others, and the environment.

We are proud to have received a fantastic Education Review Office (ERO) report, achieving the highest grade for all early childhood centers in New Zealand.
