"We booked the grounds weeks in advance but could not get to the field with our vehicles and had to carry all our stuff down."
"This archaeologically significant heritage site is under restoration and is not open to the public. The park is situated on one of the last volcanic cones rising above the industrial roofs of East Tamaki. Along with the neighbouring church land it makes up the remaining 13 hectare of a 160 hectare farm established by Reverend Gideon Smales in the late 1850s. "What a place to come across! Passing by through East Tamaki and decided to stop here, I'm glad I did. This park is filled with historic buildings and structures from a bygone era. Its amazing to see and ponder what this busy area would have once been. Well worth a quick stop. The walk only takes 30mins from one end to the other. Entry is from the stone fence and parking is just off street."
