Bucklands Beach Aikido
About the Business
Welcome to Bucklands Beach Aikido, the best local self-defense class in East Auckland. Located at 85 Nelson Street in Auckland, our institution offers a unique opportunity to learn Aikido, a Japanese martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba during the 1920s.
Aikido is a highly effective self-defense system that does not rely on physical strength or aggression. It is a martial art that can be practiced by people of all ages, physical sizes, and fitness levels. With regular attendance to our Aikido classes, you will learn how to immobilize, pin down, or throw an opponent with relative ease.
Recognized by the Japanese government in 1940, the Aikikai Foundation is the parent organization responsible for the development and popularization of Aikido worldwide. At Bucklands Beach Aikido, we follow the Aikikai style, which is the same as the one practiced at the Hombu Dojo, the world headquarters dojo in Tokyo, Japan.
Our chief instructor, Ivan Neziri Sensei, has been studying Aikido for twenty years and has gained extensive experience both in New Zealand and overseas. He has lived and trained in Japan with some of the highest-ranked masters, including Nobuo Takase Shihan, Endo Seishiro Shihan, and Shingo Nakao Sensei. With his guidance, you will receive top-quality instruction and training.
In addition to Aikido, we also offer Iaido classes, which focus on the Japanese sword. Iaido is practiced to discipline the mind and body while seeking self-improvement. Our training encompasses both the ZNKR seitei and Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu koryu Iaido styles. ZNKR seitei Iaido is the modern standard form recognized by the All Japan Kendo Federation, while Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu is a traditional form with a rich history of 400 years. Ivan Sensei, a direct student of Oshita Masakazu, the head of Genbukan Dojo in Kobe, Japan, leads our Iaido classes.
Aikido appeals to a wide range of individuals, serving as both a form of exercise and self-defense. Whether you are looking to improve your physical fitness, learn self-defense techniques, or cultivate discipline and focus, Aikido is the perfect choice for you.
Join us at Bucklands Beach Aikido and embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth through the practice of Aikido. We welcome beginners and experienced practitioners alike, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Take the first step towards enhancing your physical and mental well-being by enrolling in our classes today.
