Howick Academy Of Judo
About the Business
Welcome to Howick Academy Of Judo, located at Auckland, Pakuranga Road, 563. As an establishment dedicated to health and wellness, we are a point of interest for individuals seeking to learn the art of Judo and improve themselves both physically and mentally.
Judo is not just a martial art, but also a form of self-defense and a sport in its own right. At Howick Academy Of Judo, we take pride in teaching our students discipline, control, and confidence through the practice of Judo. Whether you are a recreational player or a competitive athlete, we welcome all levels of participation.
Our mission as a Judo club goes beyond teaching the physical skills of the sport. We also strive to impart the philosophy and traditions of Judo to our students. Etiquette, respect, and self-discipline are values that we emphasize, creating an environment that fosters personal growth and character development.
Many students come to us specifically for self-defense training, and Judo certainly provides concrete skills in this area. However, it also goes beyond that by instilling increased confidence and situational awareness. We believe in introducing Judo as a lifelong pursuit, an art that requires continuous improvement and mastery. By teaching traditional Judo etiquette and the Japanese names of techniques, we also connect our members to the cultural roots of the sport.
We would like to congratulate Olivia and Jacky on their promotion to Shodan at the Area Technical Exam! Their hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are proud of their achievements. We would also like to share the excitement of Koen Visser making the NZ Team for the World University Games. Howick Academy Of Judo is thrilled to have such talented individuals representing us on the international stage.
In addition, we are excited to announce our Females in Judo Initiative (FIJI) program. Open to all female members of the club, as well as female family members, this program aims to empower and support women in their Judo journey. It includes forums for discussion and connection among female participants of all classes, as well as mothers.
If you are interested in participating in the 2021 National Judo Championships in Wellington, please click on the link below to access the entry form and information pack. We encourage our members to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their skills and passion for Judo.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the achievements of Richard Nguyen, who has attained the grade of 1st Kyu, and Lester Harris, who has achieved the Grade of Shodan (Black Belt). Their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we celebrate their success.
At Howick Academy Of Judo, we are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment for all individuals interested in Judo. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, we invite you to join our community and embark on a journey of self-improvement and personal growth.
