Waiheke Kindergarten

Welcome to Waiheke Kindergarten, a vibrant and inclusive institution located on Donald Bruce Road in Waiheke, New Zealand. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we take pride in our well-established links to school networks and the local Waiheke community.

At Waiheke Kindergarten, we have a strong focus on sustainability and are proud to have achieved Green Gold Enviroschool status. Our children actively engage in learning ways to protect and preserve the planet, instilling in them a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

We are dedicated to providing children with a safe and enriching environment based on high-quality learning programs. Our skilled kaiako implement the Incredible Years Teacher Programme, which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional, and academic competence.

Our curriculum is based on Te Whāriki, the Ministry of Education's early childhood curriculum policy statement. It is a framework that emphasizes the learning partnership between teachers, parents, and families, providing children's early learning and development within a sociocultural context. Our teachers weave a holistic curriculum in response to children's learning and development, both within the early childhood setting and the wider context of the child's world.

Marion, Allana, Jamie, and Rachel warmly welcome you to visit us at Waiheke Kindergarten. Our teachers have excellent systems for noticing and recognizing children's emerging learning during their play. Children participate in a program that is guided by their interests and choices as they play, fostering their independence and social competence.

We also ensure a smooth transition for children as they prepare to enter school, with teachers deliberately planning for this important milestone in their educational journey.

Our kindergarten operates from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm, and our office hours are from 8 am to 4.45 pm. Please note that we are closed during term breaks and public holidays.
