Welcome to ALIVE DOJO Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Judo, a premier establishment and health point of interest located at 69 Wairoa Road, Auckland, New Zealand. At ALIVE DOJO, we are dedicated to teaching both children and adults the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Judo, catering to beginners all the way up to Olympic and Elite level athletes.
Our primary goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for everyone to learn and grow. We believe in building confidence, cultivating a strong body and mind, and promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle. Whether you are a seasoned martial artist or just starting your journey, we have a program that suits your needs.
Conveniently situated in the sunny suburb of Devonport on Auckland's North Shore, we also have locations in beautiful Waipu and central Takapuna. Our dojo is affiliated with Tu Kaha BJJ, Judo New Zealand, and Alive MMA Japan, allowing our members to cross-train at any of these prestigious institutions.
Our team of instructors is led by Brendon, a Judo Olympian with over 40 years of experience on the mats. He is the youngest Judoka to win the Nationals at the Senior level and has also achieved success in BJJ, winning the All Japans in his division. Having trained full-time in Japan for many years, Brendon is a dedicated father and teaches at both Tu Kaha and Alive Dojo. He received his BJJ black belt from the esteemed Pedro Fernandes of Tukaha.
Victor, another valuable member of our team, hails from Brazil and began his BJJ journey in 2010 in his hometown of Brazilia. With a solid grounding in Self Defence Techniques from his original coral belt master Ricardo Reis, Victor now calls New Zealand his home and continues his training under Pedro Fernandes at Tu Kaha and Alive Dojo.
Gareth, a highly experienced Judoka with over 40 years of experience, is also on his BJJ journey under Pedro Fernandes at Tukaha. He is one of our most elite Judoka and has proudly represented New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games. Gareth trained full-time in Japan at one of the toughest Kosen Judo Police Dojos and is also a devoted father. He trains daily at Tukaha.
