Tangaroa College
About the Business
Welcome to Tangaroa College, a prestigious establishment located in Auckland, New Zealand. Situated on Haumia Way, our institution serves as a point of interest for students seeking a comprehensive education.
At Tangaroa College, we prioritize the development of each student's belief in themselves, their commitment to achieve, and the spirit of aroha (love and compassion). Our dedicated staff is determined to raise student achievement by building upon the unique strengths that our students bring with them.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to explore, challenge, affirm, and celebrate artistic expressions of self, community, and culture. Whether through small steps or giant leaps, we encourage our students to take pride in their accomplishments. By recognizing and celebrating each success, our students develop self-esteem and gain the confidence to strive for bigger and better goals.
Our term dates for 2023 are as follows: Term 1: Wednesday 1 February – Thursday 6 April, Term 2: Monday 24 April – Friday 30 June, Term 3: Monday 17 July – Friday 22 September, and Term 4: Monday 9 October – Friday 8 December. We also observe various public holidays throughout the year, including Auckland Anniversary, Waitangi Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Queens Birthday, Matariki, and Labour Day.
At Tangaroa College, we excel in education through innovative learning, a tradition of caring, and partnerships. We offer a diverse curriculum encompassing Arts, Commerce, Information Technology, Languages, Technology, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Education and Health, English, Sport and Recreation, and Career Skills. Our curriculum prepares students for life and career skills, covering academic courses, work skills programs, sports and physical activities, and cultural and social learning.
As the official secondary school qualification in New Zealand, the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is an integral part of our educational system. In Year 9, students engage with a compulsory core curriculum, and from Year 10 onwards, they have the freedom to select a certain number of optional subjects in addition to core subjects. This flexibility allows students to follow their individual interests and strengths, tailoring their learning towards their desired career paths.
