Aorere Kindergarten

Welcome to Aorere Kindergarten, located at 43 Chantelle Place, Auckland. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we are dedicated to protecting the mana and wairua of our children, while celebrating and respecting their uniqueness. At Aorere, we believe that our children are Taonga, or treasures, and we strive to provide them with a sense of belonging and support.

Our kindergarten is a place where learning is fun. We believe in making education enjoyable for children, and our environment reflects this belief. Through creative play, exploration, and inquiry, our students develop the necessary skills for future learning. We encourage free play, allowing children to choose activities that interest them and take ownership of their play. This approach helps them become confident, creative decision makers who develop their independence.

At Aorere, we focus on equipping children with skills for life. Through our play-based curriculum, children develop social and communication skills, learn to support and empathize with one another, and resolve issues. We also provide a strong foundation in math, science, and literacy, while fostering a love for learning and getting along with others. Our experienced teachers provide the necessary support, encouraging children's confidence, independence, and competence.

Whakawhanaungatanga, or making positive connections, is a crucial aspect of our approach. We recognize that children's home, kindergarten, and community environments are interconnected and influence their development. We actively engage with our families and the community to create a supportive and nurturing environment for our children.

Respecting cultures is a fundamental value at Aorere. We embrace and celebrate the rich diversity of our community, incorporating Te Reo, Te Ao Māori, and Tikanga into our daily kindergarten life. We also participate in the Enviroschool program, teaching children to care for Papatuanuku (Mother Earth) and promoting leadership and kindness.

As a not-for-profit kindergarten, we are part of the AKA family, which has been dedicated to young Aucklanders' education since 1908. You can trust that we provide the highest quality early childhood education. We offer the same terms and holidays as schools, making us perfect for families with school-aged children. Our hours are Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. We also have experience working with children who have additional needs and offer 21 hours for children aged 2-6 years old.

At Aorere, we support children in becoming socially competent and adding depth to their own learning through exploration. Our teachers help children adapt quickly to the kindergarten's learning environment, values, and expectations. The curriculum is responsive to children's strengths and interests, incorporating opportunities for literacy, math, and science learning as children play.
