Welcome to Belmont Bayswater Kindergarten, a beloved establishment located at 1C Rosyth Avenue in Auckland, New Zealand. Our kindergarten is nestled on a spacious flat site, surrounded by the beauty of nature, including our majestic oak tree and the delightful presence of resident Tuis.

As an integral part of our diverse community, we have strong connections with local schools and are proud to contribute to the Enviroschools Programme. Recently, we achieved our Silver Award, highlighting our commitment to sustainable teaching and learning. We believe in instilling a sense of responsibility in our tamariki (children) towards the living world and empowering them to become lifelong Kaitiaki (guardians) of our kindergarten, community, and wider learning environment. In fact, we even grow and eat our own vegetables and have a beloved worm farm!

At Belmont Bayswater Kindergarten, we have a dedicated team with a wide range of passions, including language and culture, environmental issues, and a genuine love for books and literacy. We proudly run a Children's Library on site, as well as a Community Library from our front entrance, both of which are integral to our Enviroschools programme.

Our kaiako (teachers) are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme, which supports young children in developing self-regulation, social, emotional, and academic competence. We believe in the importance of whanāu (family) and foster respectful, warm, and inclusive relationships with our whānau. We strive for each family to feel a sense of belonging and work together to support each child's growth and development. We also enjoy coming together to celebrate and have fun at various events throughout the year.

In our daily practice, we acknowledge and honor Te tiriti o Waitangi and Te ao Māori. Our kaiako create a positive and culturally responsive environment by incorporating kaupapa Māori (values and philosophy), te reo (language), and tikanga (customs) into our daily routines.

At Belmont Bayswater Kindergarten, we believe in the power of practice, persistence, and success. Our teachers support and encourage children to try new things, fostering their curiosity, determination, and resilience. We also promote tuakana teina relationships, where older or more knowledgeable tamariki support and guide their younger peers.

Kindness is a core value at our kindergarten. We practice and role model manākitanga by showing respect, hospitality, and care for others. Through this, children develop their social awareness and skills, such as fairness, kindness, turn-taking, and working together as a team.

We offer education and care for tamariki aged 2-5 years old, with 20 hours of free education available each week. Our kindergarten operates from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, following the school terms. We welcome you to visit us and experience the wonderful learning opportunities and experiences we provide for children. Our friendly staff are available during office hours, from 8 am to 4:45 pm, Monday to Friday.

We encourage parents to be active partners in their children's learning journey. There are numerous opportunities for parents to participate in the programme, contribute to reviews, and stay informed about their children's progress.

Our skilled teachers engage children in play that encourages collaboration and investigation of ideas. They ask thought-provoking questions and provide clear explanations to facilitate learning and meaningful conversations with children.
