The name Ōwairaka holds significant cultural and historical meaning. It refers to Wairaka, a Māori ancestor from the Mt Albert area of Auckland. Wairaka was renowned for her bravery and leadership, qualities that inspire us in our educational journey. Our school and the nearby mountain share this name, symbolizing our connection to the land and the legacy of Wairaka.
We operate on a term-based academic calendar. In 2023, our term dates are as follows: Term 1: 7 February - 6 April, Term 2: 24 April - 30 June, Term 3: 17 July - 22 September, and Term 4: 9 October - 19 December. For 2024, the term dates are: Term 1: 1 February - 12 April, Term 2: 29 April - 5 July, Term 3: 22 July - 27 September, and Term 4: 14 October - 20 December.
In addition to our academic programs, we offer before and after-school care through our Ōwairaka Before School Care and Kelly Club - After School Care. We also provide exciting holiday programs to keep students engaged and entertained during school breaks.
We are proud to share our 2022 Education Review Office (ERO) Report and Principal's Annual Report, which highlight our commitment to excellence in education.
