Glenbrook Kindergarten

Welcome to Glenbrook Kindergarten, located in the rural community of Glenbrook, West Franklin. We are a warm and friendly establishment, dedicated to providing a nurturing learning environment for children to become competent, capable, and confident learners.

At Glenbrook Kindergarten, we understand the importance of learning through play. Our curriculum encourages children to explore reading and writing skills, as well as math and science concepts, in authentic and engaging ways. We believe that play fosters curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, risk-taking, exploration, and discovery.

Family involvement is highly valued at Glenbrook Kindergarten. We actively encourage and welcome the participation of families and whanau, recognizing the wealth of knowledge they can offer. This partnership between home and school enriches our curriculum and strengthens the learning experiences of our children.

Throughout the year, we organize special events and invite visitors to enhance our curriculum. Grandparents Week, Kindergarten Disco, Father and Friends Night, and Breakfast at Kindergarten are just a few examples. We also organize excursions into the wider community to further motivate and inspire our children's learning opportunities.

Our location is a true asset to our institution. Adjacent to the Kindergarten, we have access to a large sports field where children can engage in activities such as hut building, nature exploration, and collaborative games. This outdoor space allows for contemplation, connection with nature, and fun-filled experiences.

As a Bronze Enviroschools Kindergarten, we place a high importance on sustainable practices and thinking. We actively engage in growing, harvesting, and sharing our own vegetables and fruit from our gardens and the community orchard. Water conservation, composting, worm farming, waste reduction, and paper/cardboard recycling are also integral parts of our environmental care.

The Enviroschools program supports children and young people in planning, designing, and implementing sustainability actions that are important to them and their communities. This program provides a pathway from early childhood through primary, intermediate, secondary school, and beyond. Through collaboration and information sharing, we are building a collective puna mātauranga or pool of knowledge.

Glenbrook Kindergarten operates Monday to Friday, offering full-day sessions from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are proud to be a part of the Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association, which has been providing quality educational experiences and environments for children since 1952. As a 100% kiwi owned and operated not-for-profit organization, our focus is solely on the well-being and development of the children we serve.
