At Liquorland Blockhouse Bay, our mission is to keep things local and ensure that our surplus profits benefit the schools, community groups, businesses, and individuals who are committed to making our place thrive. We are owned and run by the community, for the community. By supporting us, you are directly contributing to the well-being of our neighborhoods.

We are delighted to announce the latest recipients of funding from our Your West Support Fund, which is made possible by the surplus profits generated by our retail and hospitality businesses. It is through your support that we are able to help various communities in The West flourish.

The establishment of licensing trusts in New Zealand was a response to the concerns of communities regarding the sale of alcohol. In 1944, the Invercargill Licensing Trust became the first of its kind, and it continues to thrive today. In the early 1970s, West Aucklanders voted to establish the Waitakere Licensing Trust and Portage Licensing Trust, reflecting their commitment to a community-minded approach to alcohol sales.

While the Trusts have the mandate to manage alcohol sales in West Auckland, liquor licensing falls under the responsibility of the Auckland Council. We, like any other licensed venue in West Auckland, must apply to the Auckland Council for a license to operate our stores and venues. It is important to note that we have not opposed any license applications in West Auckland for several years. The only venues we exclusively operate are those that trade late into the night (bars) and primarily focus on the sale of alcohol, as required by the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (2012).
