Welcome to the New Zealand Work Research Institute (NZWRI), located at 42 Wakefield Street in Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, NZWRI is dedicated to conducting multidisciplinary, inquiry-driven research that has a significant social impact.

At NZWRI, we offer a wide range of project and survey reports, presentations, and working papers that delve into various aspects of work and society in New Zealand. Our research focuses on important issues such as the pay gaps experienced by different ethnic groups in the country. Specifically, we aim to explore and understand the factors that contribute to or explain the pay gaps for Māori, Pacific, and Asian communities in comparison to Europeans.

Another area of our research investigates the literacy and numeracy skills of individuals in New Zealand, providing an empirical portrait of those living with low levels of these skills. Additionally, we study the use and experiences of healthcare services for children in New Zealand, including immunization, dental checks, and visits to general practitioners, with a specific focus on ethnic differences.

As part of the World Internet Project (New Zealand), we conduct a longitudinal survey that examines New Zealanders' usage of and attitudes towards the internet. This project is part of an international effort that compares the adoption and social impacts of information and communication technologies in more than 30 partner countries.

Furthermore, we explore a Kaupapa Māori approach to human resource management in Aotearoa workplaces. This study investigates whether specific HRM practices are culturally relevant for Māori employees and tests these practices in combination with traditional High-Performance Work Systems.
