Corban Estate Arts Centre
About the Business
Welcome to Corban Estate Arts Centre, located in the heart of West Auckland on the historic grounds of the former Corban Estate Winery. As one of Aotearoa's largest thriving Arts Centres, we are dedicated to nurturing and supporting the local community through art and creativity, while also preserving an important historical legacy.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, a visit to Corban Estate Arts Centre is a must. Just a short drive from Auckland CBD, on your way to the breathtaking West Coast beaches, or within walking distance from Henderson train station, our centre is a bustling hub of artistic energy and talent. It offers a unique and refreshing alternative to the traditional white-cube art scene.
Nestled within the historic Homestead and winemaking buildings of the old Corban Estate, our Arts Centre is surrounded by tranquil parklike grounds. It is both a hive of activity and a peaceful hideaway, offering much more than meets the eye at first glance.
Explore our Homestead Galleries and Gallery Shop, where you'll discover a diverse range of contemporary art. Take part in our renowned Public Arts Programme, offering art classes and workshops for adults, youth, and children. We also provide highly regarded arts education for schools and professional development opportunities for teachers.
The Kākano Youth Arts Collective is a special initiative that supports marginalized youth, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment to explore their creativity. We also offer various venues for hire, perfect for events and exhibitions. With over twenty Resident Artist Studios, we provide affordable spaces for both emerging and established artists.
Don't forget to visit our exceptional on-site cafe, the Coffee Studio, where you can relax and enjoy a delicious meal or a cup of coffee amidst the artistic ambiance.
Corban Estate Arts Centre is also home to several other arts organizations, including Atamira Dance Company, Mind Over Manner, Pacifica Arts Centre, Red Leap Theatre, Te Pou Theatre, Uhi Tapu Studio, Waitākere Arts (WCCAC), and Whaotapu o Tāmaki Makaurau.
We are proud to be supported by Auckland Council's Henderson Massey Local Board and governed by the Waitakere Arts and Cultural Development Trust. Our vibrant and dedicated staff are passionate about the arts and ensure the smooth running of the estate.
When visiting, keep an eye out for the stunning sculptures by renowned artists such as Julie Moselen, who explores the duality of light and shadow, and Rosanna Raymond MNZM, a notable producer and commentator on contemporary Pacific Island culture. You may also come across the impressive iron sculptures of resident artist David McCracken.
Discover the magic of Corban Estate Arts Centre, a destination in itself that offers something new and exciting every month. Come and immerse yourself in the rich artistic tapestry of West Auckland.
