Albany Kindergarten

Welcome to Albany Kindergarten, a vibrant and nurturing educational institution located in the heart of Auckland, Bass Road. As an establishment, point of interest, and school, we are dedicated to providing children with the necessary tools, skills, and attitudes to become competent, confident, responsible, and capable learners throughout their lifelong journey.

At Albany Kindergarten, we believe in the power of nurturing and cultivating young minds. Our philosophy is beautifully encapsulated in the Maori proverb, "Kohikohia nga kakano, whakaritea te parekereke, kia puawai nga hua" which translates to "Gather the seeds, prepare the seedbed carefully, and you will be gifted with an abundance of food." We strive to create an environment where children can flourish and grow, preparing them for a successful future.

Situated in the Albany area, also known as Okahukura, meaning "place of butterflies or rainbows," our kindergarten is conveniently located next to Albany Primary School. We warmly welcome families to visit us anytime and discover the enriching learning environment we have to offer.

At Albany Kindergarten, our children are active explorers who are encouraged to support and respect each other as they learn together. Our curriculum is built on the values of manaakitanga (caring and sharing) and aroha (kindness and support), which are woven into every aspect of our teaching. We believe in fostering a sense of friendship and community among our students.

Our guiding curriculum document, Te Whariki, emphasizes our bicultural foundations, our multicultural present, and the shared future we are creating with our Albany Kindergarten whanau (family). We strive to create global citizens who are adaptive, creative, and resilient, ready to engage with new contexts, opportunities, and challenges with optimism and resourcefulness.

Albany Kindergarten is proud to be well-resourced, and we love the way children are educated to recycle and upcycle materials. This commitment to sustainability and creativity is instilled by our dedicated and inspiring teaching team.
