Orewa Beach Kindergarten

Welcome to Orewa Beach Kindergarten, located at 88 Riverside Road in Orewa, New Zealand. Established in the early 1970s, we have recently transitioned to the Kindergarten Day Model (KDM) to provide an enhanced educational experience for our students.

At Orewa Beach Kindergarten, our primary goal is to create a safe, happy, stimulating, and challenging environment for children and their families/whanau. Our program allows uninterrupted time for children to play, interact, socialize, experience, explore, and initiate their own learning, all facilitated and supported by our qualified teachers.

We believe in fostering strong family and community connections, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed, wanted, accepted, and informed. We value and appreciate the contributions and involvement of our families and whanau, and encourage authentic links between them and the kindergarten. We also recognize the importance of community involvement and the richness it brings to our educational environment.

Respect is a core value at Orewa Beach Kindergarten. We acknowledge the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi - Te Tiriti o Waitangi, committing ourselves to its principles and recognizing New Zealand's bi-cultural heritage. We promote mutual respect between children, parents/whanau, teachers, and the community. We embrace the diverse nature of our families and instill respect for our environment, encouraging sustainability and acknowledging our responsibility as caretakers of our earth.

Learning is at the heart of what we do at Orewa Beach Kindergarten. We understand the importance of play and supporting children's interests. Our teaching and learning approach is guided by the Principles of Te Whariki, the Early Childhood Curriculum. We believe that children are competent and capable learners, developing skills for life. We strive to encourage each child to reach their full potential according to their individual abilities. Learning, leadership, and responsibility are shared among teachers, parents, whanau, and children. Our goal is to provide a stimulating kindergarten environment that supports continuous learning.
