Back Creek Farm

Welcome to Back Creek Farm, an institution located in Scotsburn, Australia. As a renowned establishment and point of interest, our farm serves as a unique learning environment for the Year 9 Transformation Program offered by Christian College.

Situated just outside of Ballarat, Back Creek Farm spans across 900 acres of picturesque land, primarily functioning as a dairy farm. We firmly believe in providing our students with authentic experiences that foster multiple learning and self-development opportunities. By immersing themselves in unfamiliar surroundings and breaking away from their usual routines, students are able to collaborate with others in order to achieve shared goals.

During the Year 9 Transformation Program, students have the opportunity to reside at Back Creek Farm for half a term. This program focuses on character development, community living, independence, and service to both their faith and others. In small work groups, students are tasked with various responsibilities such as being chefs, farmers, milkers, and tending to livestock, fruit, and vegetable crops. Through these experiences, they not only acquire essential life skills but also build friendships and create lifelong memories.

In addition to the farm work, students also gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry by working at the Back Creek Cafe. Located just down the highway from Back Creek Farm in Meredith, the cafe allows students to further understand the connection between agriculture and hospitality skills. They actively participate in preparing and serving produce, giving life to the link between these two fields.
