Sun Theatre

"A theatre with a lot of history contained inside and outside of its walls. The Clean, Art Deco design makes you feel calm and excited all at the same time. It is one of the few remaining original cinemas in the western suburbs with each individual cinema located within the Sun being named after other theatres that weren't so fortunate to survive into the 21st century. (Trocadero, la Scala, etc.) Each theatre has its own unique design and varies in size and seating capacity, I saw Asteroid city inside the Grand. As the name suggests, it was a sweeping cinema with a very high ceiling and many chairs placed throughout, and a piano placed at the bottom left corner for good measure. (which does not play) You have direct, unfettered access to the sun Bookshop, located inside the former snackbar. So you can have a quick read, and perhaps make a quick, cheeky impulse purchase if need be..."

"Great night. I decided last minute to see a movie on a Monday night, got there with only 5 minutes before the movie was to begin, bought my ticket and ice cream and was sitting in my seat before the curtain went up. What a treat it was to only have a couple of movie trailers and ads before the movie started! Overall, great experience."

"What a fantastic movie theatre. Seats are extremely comfortable and have plenty of leg room. Bar downstairs has good atmosphere. The art Deco style is aesthetically pleasing and gives you a sense of times long ago."

"What a vintage theatre! We loved the experience here, especially since Monday & Tuesday are discount days ($13.50) was the icing on the cake. Unique experience and friendly staff. You can buy a bottle of wine and snacks at the bar before heading to the movie."
