About the Business
Welcome to Mowbray Heights Primary School, located at Cadorna Street in Mowbray, Australia. Established in 1927, our school stands out for its diverse student body and families. With over 550 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6, we also offer a variety of Launching into Learning programs for families.
At Mowbray Heights, we are dedicated to improving student learning outcomes and fostering a strong partnership with families. Our inclusive school community is built upon the values of growth, aspiration, courage, and respect, as set by the Department of Education. We hold high expectations for our students and prioritize positive relationships.
Quality teaching is at the core of our school, leading to excellent student learning outcomes. Our School Improvement Plan focuses on key priorities such as Literacy, Numeracy, and Well-being. We strive to achieve our MHPS vision of Aim High: aspire, learn, achieve, which guides all aspects of our school improvement agenda.
In addition to core subjects, we place a strong emphasis on the Arts, ICT, Health and Physical Education, and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths). These subjects are highly valued by our school community and provide students with a well-rounded education.
Our families play a crucial role in supporting the school, and we greatly appreciate the strong relationship we have with them. The School Association and Parents and Citizens group provide unwavering support, contributing to the overall success of our institution.
Please note that students participating in the Swimming and Water Safety Program are required to bring an extra pair of shorts and an extra t-shirt for their survival swimming assessment. This activity aims to give students a hands-on experience of swimming with extra layers of clothing on.
In the event of inclement weather, certain events may be canceled. For instance, the Early Childhood Assembly today has been canceled due to heavy rain. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these changes.
On Launceston Cup Day, which is a gazetted Public Holiday, students do not attend school. However, our staff will be present from 8:30 am to 11:00 am for professional learning.
For students in Year 3/4/5 and identified students in Year 6, the Swimming and Water Safety Program will commence tomorrow. Please ensure your child brings their bathers, towel, and a plastic bag for wet clothes. Some students will be swimming outside, so a rash top or T-shirt is recommended. Sunscreen will be provided, but if your child has sensitive skin, please pack their personal sunscreen.
Maintaining accurate student information is of utmost importance to us. Today, the 2021 Student Validation Forms will be sent home. Please review the information and make any necessary changes. It is crucial that the Consent section of the form is completed and signed by the parent/guardian listed. Additionally, you will receive the Special Data Collection Form for Parents and the ICT Acceptable Use Agreement. Please return all three forms by Friday, 26th February.
Uniform Sales will take place on Thursday, 28th January, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. We kindly ask all families to adhere to physical distancing and hand hygiene procedures that will be implemented.
Thank you for choosing Mowbray Heights Primary School, where we strive for excellence, inclusion, and a nurturing educational environment.

"I miss this school.Nice teachers and lots of friends."
"There are some good teachers at this school. Mr Lindsey is great. Both my sons were taught by Mrs Rafferty and Mrs Boon-Smith and they liked these teachers especially. Mr Geale really helped my son out actually so he is cool too plus Mrs Galloway among other good ones too. The school social worker and office staff are very good."
