If you're interested in sustainable living and creative recycling, join us at the Trash to Treasure Fair on Saturday 2 September 2023. Held at the Buy Back Shop in Portsmith from 9am-1pm, this event showcases innovative ways to repurpose items and reduce waste.

Please note that the Cairns Festival Grand Parade will not be rescheduled this year, as advised by the Council. However, we have a myriad of other exciting events and activities planned throughout the year.

In recognition of the late Stan Marsh's contributions to the community, the Council is considering naming the pavilion in Norman Park, Gordonvale, in his honor. This dedication serves as a tribute to his legacy and commitment to our region.

At Leighton Crescent Park, we are committed to the environment and community. During the launch of Clean Up Cairns, we collected approximately 10,350 cigarette butts from three city streets. This initiative highlights our dedication to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment for all.

We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of our region, including the Djabugay, Yirrganydji, Buluwai, Gimuy Walubara Yidinji, Mandingalbay Yidinji, Gunggandji, Dulabed and Malanbara Yidinji, Bundabarra and Wadjanbarra Yidinji, Wanyurr Majay, Mamu, and NgadjonJii peoples. We extend this respect to all elders, both past and present, as well as to all First Peoples within our region.
