Grandma's

"Came to this place after reading reviews and hype post on instagram. We love to support local Townsville businesses. As soon as we arrived, we let the staff know by waiting at the counter, and they said they will clean our table after seated. It took several minutes for the table to be cleared, but it was not wiped down at the time. The staff came back and asked if she had the wiped the table. We ordered 2 of their signature shakshuka’s and 2 iced coffees plus a bottle of water as we noticed there didnt seem to have drinking water available. The iced black coffee with condensed milk came out inedible, it tasted like extremely watered down coffee with zero sweetness from the “condensed milk”. The iced caramel latte just tasted like caramel milk, with no intensity from the coffee. Their seemed to be disorganisation the whole duration we were there due to no table numbers, and staff not knowing which guests ordered what. All the staff seemed to work blankly with no urgency or care for customer service. After 45 mins wait for a breakfast, a young fella came out and was asking the guests if they ordered shakshukas as they ran out of soft bread.. and only had sourdough. For the food, it was awful. My wife ordered the half rich bolognese half spinach and feta shakshuka, the beef tasted like unseasoned stewed beef with a tin of canned tomato, not cooked down. It was watery and tasted worse with every bite. I ate the sausage and bacon and left the rest. For the premium price you pay, I am not sure what is good. The view/location is on a main road, service is almost non existent, coffee did not taste like coffee, food was borderline inedible. Totally overrated, we left hungry and needing a real coffee."

"Unfortunately this morning our experience was disappointing. Previously it has been okay at grandmas, however today was difficult to watch. The staff were unorganised, arguing between each other and the staff were unwilling to help. We waited well over an hour for food, which was inedible. Parts of our meal were unavailable which we weren’t notified until our orders arrived. One of our meals was dropped by a staff member, who proceeded to pick it up off the floor and bring it to us. We left without touching our food due to lack of workplace health and safety. Our coffee was burnt and incorrect. Our table was disgusting, sticky, wet and never cleaned. It got very uncomfortable watching the staff and multiple customer complaints and refunds this morning. Very disappointing, we do appreciate we were provided a refund however left extremely hungry."

"Ordered a Cocoa pancake, fruit bowl and iced chocolate from Grandma's. The Pancake was great but Grandma made the iced chocolate way too sweet and the water melon was stale, other than that it was all good."

"The best pancakes I have ever eaten! We ordered the orange ricotta pancakes and the spinach/fetta shakshuka. Staff were friendly, service was great, food was delicious. What more could you ask for? Get yourself to Grandma’s!"
