Welcome to the Mechatronics Lab in Sandy Bay, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Our lab is an establishment and point of interest affiliated with the University of Newcastle. We are dedicated to the field of precision mechatronics, exploring the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science.

At the Mechatronics Lab, we are at the forefront of research and development in various fields related to mechatronics. Our team of experts and PhD students are constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation and exploring new possibilities.

We are also proud to announce that Dr. Michael Ruppert, one of our esteemed researchers, has been selected as one of the 2021 Fresh Scientists. This program aims to nurture early career researchers into effective science communicators, and Dr. Ruppert's participation reflects his expertise and dedication to his field.

In addition, Matheus from our lab recently won the school heat at the University of Newcastle's 2021 3 Minute Thesis Competition. His captivating talk titled "Soft Medical Robots: A Bioinspired Revolution" highlights the potential of soft robotics in the medical field.

Our lab also actively contributes to academic journals and conferences. Our researchers have published articles in prestigious publications such as the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics and the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences. These publications cover topics ranging from the thermal protection of piezoelectric actuators to the modeling of soft fluidic actuators.

We are constantly exploring new avenues of research and collaborating with experts in the field. Our lab's focus extends to topics such as carbon nanotubes as scattering surfaces, high-bandwidth amplitude and phase estimation, and the design and applications of soft pneumatic actuators.
