"Emergency waiting times are quite appalling. ACT health system is the most terrible health system in Australia. Driving down to a hospital in Sydney would be much faster and would be treated sooner than sitting here for 6+ hours and to be said there are no doctors available at the ED."
"Wish there was an option for giving no stars.. Walked into emergency at 5:30pm, advising the nurse that my 7 year old is having chest pain. Waited for almost 3.5 hours and kept checking about the wait time and informing the nurse about the chest pain.. but the staff has no concern for the pain.. patients who checked in after me were all gone.. all they could say was, I know you have been here for the longest time but the doctor has not picked up the case. is chest pain in kids not an emergency or a concern anymore .. hopefully the wait time and sense of urgency will be taken care after the takeover over by ACT health. After complaining about the chest pain for the third time.. they gave me hospitals favourite medication. God of all medication available at the hospital. The great “PANADOL”. So guys next time if you have a chest pain, stay at home, don’t go to Calvary to disturb the doctors and enjoy small shots of Panadol.."
"This was my first admission into Calvary, and it occurred seamlessly. The only criticism was getting to the check-in desk for my procedure on level 3. The ground floor office directed me where to go, which was a tad convoluted. This confusion could be easily addressed by using the coloured line directions, as used by Canberra Hospital. Remembering the various left or right turns and levels was very trying, which is something one doesn't need in an unknown location and was quite stressful, but once I had reached the necessary check-in desk, the experience improved, and my angst reduced. The staff were lovely, and the experience was professional."
"There is a reason ACT Health feel the need to take over this hospital. I have had the misfortune of having to take my family members to this place over the years and it has always been a nightmare. The lack of care, incompetence and blundering is staggering for a hospital in the Nation's capital. The nurses are too busy on their phones to pay attention to their patients when they can be bothered caring for them at all. The condition of the building is horrible. If you are ever in need to emergency care or would need to be admitted, go to Canberra Hospital at any cost - do not risk Calvary. My elderly mother was moved to a new facility today and when her belongings were packed up the staff didn't pack her phone charger. There was a dead pot plant someone gave as a gift that was packed and sent with her other things but not the phone charger. My mother has no way now of charging her phone to keep in contact with her family now - just incredible. The lack of care is extraordinary. No wonder the ACT government feels the need to take over this place - I hope the current staff are all replaced after the takeover."
"My wife went to the hospital and spent 9 days there. The Doctors and surgeons are very nice and ED staff were very good. The most of the nurses in ward 5E and 6W ( surgical ward Xavier building ) are extremely rude and night shift 6W team leader extremely rude and unprofessional. Every day when I go back home after visiting hour finish I felt my wife in the safe hand."
