Ekhidna Wines

"My partner and I visited Ekhidna Wines as part of a wedding venue tour. We were greeted by Jess and Matt before being shown around the venue. The reason for the review was the unequivocal generosity, kindness and authentic service we experienced as patrons. We accompanied our venue showcase with a wine tasting hosted by Matt. Matt was fascinating to talk to. He was engaging, funny and educational. He walked us through Ekhidna's wines with finesse and expert knowledge. We were even lucky enough to taste the rare fortified Muscat behind the counter. Matt's service and generosity blew us away. The stories he told of his life, winery and daughter were inspiring. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we are forever grateful that we visited Ekhidna. Thank you Matt, for your generosity and kindness; we will treasure the gift you imparted us with for a long time to come. Could not recommend this venue more highly to wine lovers and couples. Thank you, Jess and Matt, for an unforgettable memory and experience!"

"My partner and I attended Ekhidna Wines as part of our helicopter flight package. We arrived early and even though the venue wasn’t open the team brought us inside, served us wine and were very accommodating. We had the 6 courses with the paired wines, and had the best time. The service and the food was outstanding!!!"

"Lunch for 4, okay busy day, Easter Sunday. But they took the booking, we ended up with a kind of uncovered picnic table with cheap and nasty plastic chairs and into the bargain we were practically at the walkway to the toilets. Entrees and bread was pretty good. The wines and beers were very good. The fish and the beef were also very good, but the chicken? 2 diners had chicken, the breast in particular was dry, was supposed to be a half chicken but somehow the breast was also halved and while a leg was there, the thigh was missing in action! Half of the triple cooked potatoes were crunchy dry and unpleasant. Will not be in any hurry to return, the standard of cooking should be way above what was delivered today. I know, I should have spoken up but I believe you just have to grin and bear it, but it's gotten the better of me and I had to write this review."

"This is one of my favourite places to visit in McLaren Vale. Our first visit was for wine tasting. The staff are well informed and make you feel welcome. They are more than happy to answer any questions and do not make you feel rushed. We staying much longer than expected tasting and chatting to Matt. The wines are really nice and we left with a few bottles. Our next visit was for lunch. Every dish was well presented and tasted wonderful. Again the staff were really nice and we didn't feel rushed and had a lovely afternoon . Will definitely be going back."
