"Needless to say that I’m extremely disappointed. The owners of the original franchise were close friends of the family and I’ve been going to Montezuma's Coolangatta since it’s opening night. We always make a point of having dinner there when we visit the Coast and I’m sad to say that my experience on Friday night (last night) will be my last. The new owners have made away with the original recipes, quality and presentation and in my opinion should no longer be called Montezuma’s. My enchilada meal looked like it had been reheated from the night before and wasn’t even hot in the middle. The cheese looked set like it was heated and cooled again. Apart from the woeful meal, there is no longer any dining atmosphere. Most of the festive Mexican decorations have gone and now playing some dodgy 80’s music that I’ve never even heard before. If you were a fan of Montezuma’s, don’t go here. Go to Aztec’s instead."
"I’ve been coming here for many years as a local and to see the portion sizes with the same prices and to taste the flavours now I was very disappointed. The seats are hard wood, cold for a winters night, after sitting for anything over 30min , it’s not a comfortable feeling.. The 4 dips were delicious. The tacos were half filled, they don’t come with any guacamole or sour cream.. hardly any flavour, the salad on this dish was straight iceberg lettuce… the enchilada used to come with 2 on the plate with rice and a delicious little dressed side salad, there was only 1, they were dry and we asked for cheese on the side.. it was melted inside the enchilada so one of the people at our table couldn’t even have it. *If anyone has any dietary requirements make sure you tell the staff and don’t just go off the menu The cocktails were very average. Unfortunate to say that the food was definitely not worth our money. The service was good, our main waiter was mostly efficient and polite."
"The serving size was a little on the small side, but the meal was really nice. Beef in the nachos was really tasty. Enchilada was nice to Service was good. Sangria was nice. Cocktails menu was good. Will be back again."
"The young gentleman serving was super friendly and delivered great service. The presentation of the food was lacking vibrance, some fresh herbs or fresh salsa on top would’ve made all the difference. Food was still yummy. Would be great if they had some colouring pages and pencils for kids"
