"Followed up on the well-being of our puppy within 24 hours of visit. Very considerate of animals that are scared of the vet. Very willing to explain and offer lots of information. We had such a great experience after taking our pup in for a one off we switched from a different vet practice to vet west."
"What a waste of time and money. They only care about the dollars and not the pets well being. They do tests that are not required and charge you, over inflate the cost of medications hugely and charge a consult fee of $99. My GP only charges $80 for humans. An absolute joke of a place. Been back 3 times for the same issue and magically they say it's a different problem."
"Our dog is anxious when it comes to vets and we were clear to let them know this, we muzzled him also. Previously here we had a really good experience with one of the vets (dr Jessie) who handled him really well as he was anxious and was able to find out what was wrong and prescribe the correct medication. However this time, they treated him really rough and didn’t consider what we told them, they had 2 vets (dr lacy being one) pin him down just to check his heart beat which was really unnecessary and just made our dog traumatised and even more anxious, they told us we would have to rebook with him on sedatives as they cannot handle him. Before they walked in, he was calm and laying on the floor. They then said we would have to pay the consultation fee which doesn’t make sense as they didn’t even do anything… Their reply was that in notes it is said that he’s tried to bite through the muzzle, which he never has. We worked our dog up to being okay with vets and this experience has just completely ruined how he will be with vets in the future."
"I cannot recommend Dr Hui enough. She was patient, thorough and caring during the consult. She prioritised the well-being of my cat and went above and beyond to make sure that he was fully checked out. Thank you!"
"Please do not take your animals here! One of the worst experiences of my life taking our dog to Cockburn vetwest. Not our usual vet but unfortunately our usual vet was booked out for the day so decided to take our dog to vetwest as we were able to get an appointment. Our dog was lethargic, and having difficulty walking on her back leg, the vet couldn't see anything obviously wrong with her leg so did some blood tests, the blood tests didn't seem to give many answers ( we paid almost $300 for the blood test, they then said we needed to do another blood test & we would need to pay again, to which my husband questioned why can't the same blood just taken be used, to which they said "oh yes we can", this was our first 'red flag' so to speak that all they were interested in was making the most money ) after another test & a few hours as apparently there machine was broken my husband was called back with some very bad news, they said the results indicated she has a very bad infection they didn't know what exactly but suspected in her kidneys, we were given two options she would need emergency specialist care at $1000 per day or Euthanasia, we were also told she needed oxygen & was in pain, to which we obviously very shocked & concerned as she has no breathing issues or pain issues before she went in and was in our opinion no where near sick enough to even consider Euthanasia. We decided we just wanted to take her home at this stage and think about what we were going to do, my two young children were absolutely beside themselves & confused how their dog had deteriorated so quickly, once we got her home she began eating, drinking & walking/moving about ( still with a sore leg but walking nonetheless ) we decided to get a second opinion as it seemed absurd she needed Emergency care or to put her to sleep, so took her to waves vet ( absolutely amazing service I'll add ) no one could understand why, if she had an infection would they not start her straight away on antibiotics, this vet gave her an injection straight away and we went home with antibiotics to give her, we were told she was not in pain & had no breathing issues. She began making very quick progress & was back to her usual self in a few days! Please I urge you be very careful going to this vet & if you don't feel comfortable in what they are saying get a second opinion! they are obviously more concerned about making money then the actual animals, we were absolutely disgusted they were going to put our dog to sleep when all she needed was a course of antibiotics. We have contacted them numerous times to discuss this to which they don't reply. I just hope no one else lost their pet at vetwest unnecessarily :("
