Pier 21 Apartment Hotel

"Lovely accomodation with old style charm. Nothing was too much trouble and every morning the staff were busy maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. The laundry service was a great addition and plenty of room in the fridge to keep meals for the week. Would recommend"

"I stayed at Pier 21 in early June 2023 for about 1 week. Kristy was most helpful and accommodating. The Studio apartment was more than enough for my needs. This property was clean and close to the shops and close to work. I would definitely stay again. Thank you."

"Rude and Incompetent staff with partially tired rooms and dirty. Called up the day prior and spoke to Kristy/Kirsty and requested an early check-in if possible. Was told over the phone they were booked out until I called out the female I spoke with as they were showing multiple rooms available. At this point, she took my name and assured me checking in at 1pm would not be an issue and a note added to the account after I explained we are travelling with a toddler. Arrived at 1pm and spoke to another lady of the same name - she either didnt remember speaking to me or someone gave a different name as she was rude and condescending. Informing me there is no note on the account and making excuses for staff laziness. As I have worked in hotels, I am aware of how rolling rooms works and the need to request. I was basically told I was lying about calling up. When we did manage to check in the room smelt of chemicals, strong and industrial as there was clearly a dog in the room prior. No issues, but clean up their fur and the sand they walk into the room properly. Was unable to enjoy the access to the beach and leave the door open as the room next to us had a smoker and it filled out room with second hand smoke, again, I would rather avoid this and associated cancers. Bathroom had mould and left over hair in the drain (Images attached), also, sheets have a small hole. Found dog fur in multiple places in the bedroom and fortunate hubby was not with us as he is very allergic. The only think this place has going for it is the location and view. Based on the staff, I am now rethinking a planned stay at one of their other locations. Also, booked under my married name and work email...just mentioning incase they claim I didnt stay on 24th April 2023."

"The location on the river is wonderful, however the faciities are more 3star than 4star and the double bedroom suite was badly in need of upgrading. The bathroom was smaller than the walk in wardrobe. Single basin. Shower over the bath without the option of the use of a shower head or handheld shower. Little room for toiletries. One easy thing to improve the breakfast would be the introduction of coffee machines that guests could use to get their first cup of coffee in the morning. The staff were eager to please, but needed more supervision and training. I wouldn´t stay here again until there is a major ronovation."
