"What started as a pleasant experience turned out to make a couple of us quite sick in the end. To start with the good; I rate their dog friendliness, waitress customer service and reasonable food prices. Also their coffee was better than I was expecting for a hinterland cafe, so that was a pleasant surprise. The bad; a mate and myself had ordered the beef burger and steak burger for a late lunch and being immunocompromised myself I always try to avoid salad. I asked for no lettuce on my burger which I received bits of anyway. Both the beef pattie and the steak on the burgers did not come out very hot which was the major concern. I remember at the time thinking to myself this seems dodgy. Fast forward to that night both of us were incredibly ill. I could not keep even water down, which had forced us to both miss days off work recovering. Thinking we were doing the right thing my friend’s partner phoned the cafe to inform them that we had been very sick from eating at their cafe. Hoping they might offer an apology, and assurances that they would try their best to avoid any future instances of the same thing happening. The opposite, what was rebutted was a dismissive and rude defence taking no blame whatsoever. Claiming because we had slightly different burgers it couldn’t be possible. My friend assured them we had all been staying together for that weekend and that we had all eaten the same meals. Yet only two of us had gotten sick. Without a doubt in our mind it was the food from the cafe that made us sick. It’s a shame I would’ve have been back. But I definitely won’t be returning here again. Dismissive lack of understanding and food safety controls."
