The Oyster Shed has a rich history, starting as a small shed on an operational oyster farm and evolving into a popular fish and chippery on the waterfront of Sandstone Point Hotel. In April 2023, it was reimagined once again to become the Oyster Shed Beach Club. This slice of paradise offers a seafood-inspired menu, an ice creamery, and a dedicated cocktail station serving frozen margaritas.
Immerse yourself in the coastal ambiance of the Oyster Shed Beach Club, complete with lounge-style furniture and coastal decor. Spend an afternoon relaxing on a day bed or sinking into a bean bag while enjoying the vibrant oasis created by the surrounding palm trees. As the sun sets, festoon lights strung on the water's edge create a magical atmosphere.
The Oyster Shed Beach Club also pays homage to its historical significance. In 1875, James Clark operated a highly successful Oyster Farm in Pumicestone Passage, employing over 25 families and owning numerous dredging sections. The jetty and oyster shed played a vital role in the livelihood of Moreton Bay, and now they have been restored to their former glory.
One of the unique features of the Oyster Shed Beach Club is its direct access from Pumicestone Passage via the hotel's beloved jetty. You can even dock your boat or jetski to the pontoon and walk up the jetty to enjoy a delicious meal or refreshing drink after a day out on the water. Please note that fishing is not allowed off the jetty.
To make your experience even more memorable, the Oyster Shed Beach Club hosts special events every few months, featuring headline DJs, fire performers, and more. Keep an eye out on the hotel's entertainment page for information on upcoming events.

"Waited 40 minutes for the wrong coffee to be made. How many years has the establishment been putting on events/car days on? And yet, still can't efficiently produce a service. Told to read the menu when asked if they do coffee at the hot food side, then was told to go to the bar. Horrific service from a establishment that should know better. Heaven forbid you allow food vans and support local business!? Congratulations for not ruining the chips though, give yourself a pat on your back? Pathetic."
"The only reason I’m giving it a 3 star was for the atmosphere & location. Food was below average, paid $22 for a piece of over cooked fish (asked for beer battered came out crumbed) . The only $$$ for value on the menu was the oversized onion rings. This was one of the main reasons for booking at the big 4 and what a flop unfortunately."
"Stunning Views, Amazing Ambience, Friendly Staff. The food was nice, more variety for those who couldn’t eat seafood would be ideal, but understand why the menu is so select. Great catch up space, with lovely beverage, the cocktail jugs were lovely."
"Called in for lunch in this refurbished and larger oyster bar. The two of us ordered the share box which included prawn cut, eye, calamari, fish and chips with a nice garden salad.Considered it a fair price even though it is served in a cardboard box but eco friendly utensils are provided. What impressed me was the freshness of the product. All the seafood was fresh and tasty. I normally go to Saviges on the island for my fish and chips but will definitely return here. Atmosphere was so pleasant with a nice sea breeze and a rustic wooden roof which I think has replaced a Perspex roof which was hot underneath."
