"Love this place, very comfy and beautiful ❤️, everything is great. Except for Marcel, hes working here, from Germany. He doesn't have any idea on how to talk to people or being nice. Always rude and not polite at all"
"Site manager yells at customers for petty things . He is always angry and I have never seen him smile. Customers avoid him and staff even see him often screaming at guests. I don't understand why he is in the hospitality business and obviously has has no training. He would be better off working as a prison warden where he can yell all day long. Customers are treated like you are in high school. Some of the staff are nice and accommodating but Some forget who pays their salary. What happened to giving customers the benefit of the doubt? One bad apple can totally spoil your visit of such a beautiful place. It is very sad how a beautiful place has gone downhill in 20 years. No chairs or tables in kitchen and difficult for disabled guests No other hostel has cut corners so much and don't have crowded Kitchens And a challenge finding cutlery and dishes every day. Kitchen is overcrowded and often filled with nonpaying freeloaders who take advantage of the great location. Bunk beds are made for midgets and have little head room. Constantly bump head in tiny bunk beds. Very clickish and music was only from Argentina for months. Staff preach being respectful but are clueless about giving it. It's sad what has happened to a once friendly hostel that has such a beautiful location on the beach."
"I was soo excited to leave this place! Do not come here, you will not have the welcoming hostel experience that you can have in soooo many other places. Because it is so big and there are too many people, they create little groups and it is very hard to be accepted into one of them. Its like you are in high school again trying to find a good place to sit and eat. People do not even say hello to eachother!!! Staff, just so you know, People go to hostels mostly for the experience of meeting other travelers and feeling apart of a community, this hostel is so far away from that. Other places organise activites, and if a group is going out to do something, it is common to ask others to join! That’s how a hostel becomes more than just a place to sleep. Also, you have to pay 5 dollars to get dishes and you have to carry them around with you which is so weird, there are "longtermers" who have been there for years who leave dirty clothes and food under their beds. And the workers make you feel like you are invading their home and they want nothing to do with you. There are many ways that this could be fixed, tell your staff to be friendlier, and organise group activities. I have been backpacking for 4 years, and am an outgoing person. I have never had such a negative experience as I have had here. Pay the extra price for other hostels! Stay away! The only reason they make money is because it is close to the beach. The people at reception are nice."
"This hostel is in a fantastic location for a great price! The rooms are nice and big and clean (a 4 bedroom bunk). Initially my group of three were the only Australians at the hostel as the majority of other guests were doing a working holiday visa in Byron Bay. The beds were super comfortable and the sheets provided were clean. The bathrooms and common areas were also very clean. However, all common areas like the TV room, kitchen and outdoor areas all close at 10/10:30 and the security will ask you to leave these areas and go to your room after the 10:30pm curfew. Overall it was a great experience and the beach access was an amazing! :)"
