Reviews of Minto Colonial Accommodation
"The hotel is a luxurious vacation spot with great views and first class amenities, the staff is friendly. The room was spacious. There is a cafe and store very close to the hotel."
"Very bad experience of Minto Accommodation. The picture are old and didn't reflect anymore the real atmosphera of the place : it's very dark inside, quite dirty, lights are very dusty and full of web-spider. My room was very noisy because of the proximity of the road and the presence of the fridge inside the room. The warm water of the shower didn't works. It smelled the humidity. My towel smelled foot sweat and rest of dead sink ! I didn't used it to avoid to catch an inless sink. I booked via airbnb, and they didn't refunded me in totality. In more to be not professional, there are scammers. You can replace the name of "Minto" by "Seedy"."
"I was too busy to write a review for this place, but I had always wanted to. This was my first destination in Australia and I had Room 1A, which is apparently the tiniest room in this accommodation. It had a tiny refrigerator, a back door opening, a lamp and a clean table. It lacked a wardrobe and this made me wrestle with my luggage. I initially didn't like it, especially because of the shared baths and the old wooden look but why would I give it a 5-star review now? This is the best you'll get with that budget. The location is just fabulous, it is a 1-minute walk from the bus station which will take you directly to CBD in less than 15 minutes. There is a laundromat, a Night Owl and several restaurants nearby. Halal options are almost non-existent, so I had trouble in the beginning. However, one can take a bus and reach a destination with Halal options (or even walk for 2 km which I used to do). The kitchen has all the necessary accessories (including a SMEG oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle etc.) along with free tea and coffee. The people are nice and very friendly, so a person can never be bored here. The proprietor Jenny is also very cooperative, responsive and straightforward. The Wifi is fast to work from this place and I didn't encounter any disconnections. Lack of security cameras and good door locks is a problem though, so be careful about curious travelers who can't resist peeking into an open door. If you are careful and attentive before going outside, then it is all good. There should also be Whatsapp group for the residents so they can talk to one another if needed or receive instructions from the management. And yes, the iron stand must be replaced now. If you are there for CBD and your budget fits this place, you won't regret it. Just don't take room 1A if you have more than one suit case or several laptops/tablets etc. because you'll spend a lot of time organizing your things. And I forgot, the pictures do not present the reality. Add atleast 5 years and you'll understand how the rooms look like now."
"I've lived in 4 different countries, stayed in a lot of eclectic places, however words can't describe how appalling this place is run. The owner sees people as just "a number" and is very hostile. I had my room broken into a few times, had prescription medications abd jewellery taken due to the locks being very unsucure; when this was brought up management her reply was simply " we can't prove anything " and nothing was done. They treat you like utter garbage and in my opinion are just money hungry . The guests are absolutely lovely and the house is beautiful; just a shame it's been run by these kinds of people."
"Cheap and nice rooms. The common areas are nice. The kitchen is modern and is really good equipped. The toilets and showers are shared but they are really clean The entertainment area is tidy with a nice TV set an a comfortable sofa. The staff is really friendly and they can help you if they can. The internet is paid and works fine, if you stay for a week, talk to the staff in order to know if you can have internet access for a lower price or for free. Finally the hotel is well located you can walk to the center of the city (about 25 min)."
