In addition to our graduates, our faculty is at the forefront of groundbreaking research. For example, our study on human brain activity has analyzed over 10,000 different maps, revealing that the overall shape of a person's brain influences how we think, feel, and behave. This research has implications for understanding diseases like dementia and stroke.

Furthermore, our Australian scientists have made a groundbreaking discovery - an enzyme that converts air into energy. This finding opens up possibilities for creating devices that generate energy from thin air, revolutionizing renewable energy solutions.

We are proud to announce the official opening of the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH), home to the Monash Victorian Heart Institute (VHI). This state-of-the-art facility brings together cardiovascular care, world-class research, and a significant healthcare network and workforce. The VHI is dedicated to translating discoveries, techniques, and therapies from the lab to practice.

Our commitment to advancing healthcare extends to rare diseases as well. Through the Medical Research Future Fund, we have secured $15 million in funding for an Australian-first clinical trial of mitochondrial donation. This breakthrough trial offers hope to the 50 Australian children born each year with devastating mitochondrial disease.

Monash University's contributions to global public health have been recognized with the honor of hosting the 2024 World Health Summit - Regional Meeting. This prestigious event brings together leading experts to address pressing health challenges and drive positive change.
