At MSDI, we are guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which serve as the framework for all our operations, education, and research work. With over 180 researchers, educators, doctoral students, and professionals, we bring together the best thinkers and doers from across Monash University, academia, industry, government, and the community. Through transdisciplinary partnerships, we aim to achieve the 17 SDGs set by the United Nations.

Our comprehensive systems change toolkit allows us to turn Monash's best knowledge into practical and real-world solutions. We offer a range of courses and programs that empower individuals to make a difference. For example, our short courses, such as "Net Zero for Your Building Portfolio" and "Change Healthcare's Impact on the Environment," provide the knowledge and skills needed to drive sustainability in various sectors.

Our team of experts includes individuals like MSDI Water Director and Fire to Flourish CEO Briony Rogers, who has always worked across boundaries to find innovative solutions. MSDI and Climateworks Centre Chair John Thwaites AM is a champion for public policy and sustainability, building connections across sectors to drive success.

We are proud to have Geetha Maniam, the first PhD student from one of our international campuses, as a visiting scholar at MSDI. Her research focuses on nature-based wastewater solutions, highlighting our commitment to finding sustainable solutions globally.

In addition to our research and educational endeavors, we actively engage with Indigenous Australians and acknowledge and pay respects to the Elders and Traditional Owners of the land on which our Australian campuses stand.
