About the Business
Welcome to Mount Dandenong Primary School, a unique institution nestled in the beautiful mountains of Australia. Located at Farndons Road, 13-15, our school is not only an establishment and point of interest, but also a thriving primary school that caters to the educational needs of young learners.
At Mount Dandenong Primary School, we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our students. Our school values the close-knit community we have built, fostering respect, happiness, and independence among our students. We believe in offering creative opportunities and striving for academic excellence, ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive and succeed.
As a part of the Mount Dandenong Primary School community, we extend a warm welcome to you to explore what makes our school on the mountain top so special. Our school is like one big family, where everyone is known by name and positive relationships are actively cultivated by our dedicated staff, students, and parent community.
We are proud to be at the heart of a connected, engaged, and vibrant community that works together to create a successful future for our learners. We believe in equipping our students with critical thinking and creative skills, effective communication, collaboration, strong character, and a sense of active citizenship. By focusing on the holistic development of our students, we aim to fulfill this vision and prepare them for a successful life ahead.
In addition to providing a strong foundation in English and Mathematics, our students enjoy a rich and diverse educational program. From science and humanities to technologies, arts, health and physical education, and Japanese language, our curriculum offers a well-rounded learning experience. We are particularly renowned for our excellence in the arts and offer additional opportunities for students to pursue their creative passions and talents through instrumental music tuition, choir, and participation in events such as Wakakirri.
Our school grounds are a haven for exploration and hands-on learning. With our Wominjeka Vegetable Garden, wood-fired pizza oven, play spaces, and extensive grounds, students have ample opportunities to connect with nature, learn about their environment, and engage in sustainable living practices. We even grow produce for cookery, allowing our students to experience the joy of farm-to-table cooking.
As we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, the Wurundjeri people, we pay our respects to the Elders, both past and present, of the Kulin Nation and extend that respect to all Indigenous Australians. We believe in fostering cultural understanding and appreciation within our school community.
If you are considering enrolling your child for Prep 2023, we are currently accepting inquiries and would be delighted to arrange a tour for you starting from March onwards. Please feel free to call or email us to book your visit.
Our school day runs from 8.50 am to 3.30 pm, with various sessions and breaks, allowing for a well-balanced schedule that caters to both academic and social development.

Reviews
"I have never been to this school but it is a very good school"
"Great school, great teachers and great people."
"Great primary school with excellent teachers that are very supportive, providing the students with a very good curriculum with thorough feedback."
"Wonderful school offering many great programs for children of all abilities. The trivia nights are fantastic too!!"
"MDPS certainly was not a great school when my children attended (1996-2011). Children should all be given a positive start to their education, and those teachers minimising children should NOT be acceptable. The teachers did nothing to nurture or assist children with minor learning difficulties, and would only favor 'popular' children. This was demonstrated in the weekly assemblies, with the same children winning awards week in, week out. The students would bully, and teachers would minimise. These negative instances impacted greatly on the self-esteem of my eldest. The teachers did not seem to care, nor take bullying or complaints seriously and brushing it off as 'kids will be kids'. If the school employed teachers that were encouraging, nurturing, positive role-models for the younger generation, particularly when my children attended, my review would have been a positive one."
