Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative
About the Business
Welcome to Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative! Located at 81B Altona Street in Kensington, Australia, our institution is a point of interest that offers a unique and enriching educational experience for children aged 6 weeks to school age.
At our institution, we have created a fun and purpose-built space for children aged 6 weeks to 12 months. Our under 3's rooms cater to children aged 1 to 3, providing flexible programs that support each child's individual interests and development. For children ages 3 to 6, our over 3 long day care programs offer a nurturing environment where their interests and development are supported.
One of the standout features of Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative is our cooperative model. We are a not-for-profit community-based institution governed by a dedicated group of parents and highly qualified staff. With a strong business profile and sound financial shape, we prioritize what is best for children rather than profits.
In addition to our comprehensive care programs, we offer sessional and integrated kindergarten programs. These programs include two sessional kindergarten groups and several integrated long daycare and kindergarten groups, each spanning three days. With a 140-place capacity and a team of 50 dedicated staff members, we ensure that each child receives the attention and care they deserve.
Our institution provides a safe and nurturing environment where we stimulate children's curiosity, encourage discussions, engage their senses, and offer choices for learning, discovery, and growth. Our natural setting is an integral part of our program, and we actively promote and foster sustainable practices.
Since 1982, Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative has proudly been educating and caring for children from Kensington and surrounding areas. Our primary aim is to provide quality early childhood education that helps children grow, develop, and learn in a safe, stimulating, and fun environment. We value the uniqueness of each child, their interests, learning styles, and backgrounds.
We recognize and value the crucial role that families play in their children's lives, and we foster strong partnerships with families to create the best learning opportunities. Our knowledgeable, experienced, and committed staff members encourage children to have a positive attitude towards challenges, learning, and respect. Our integrated teaching and learning approaches have a strong focus on child-directed play and learning, driven by the child's interests and desire to understand and know more.
To enroll your child at Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative, we require a copy of their birth certificate or suitable evidence of the child's expected due date. There is a non-refundable $25 application fee to cover administration costs, which can be paid through our app or by direct deposit. Available places will be offered to families registered on our waitlist, and we notify families via email and a follow-up phone call when a place becomes available.
We have developed a comprehensive orientation process to ensure a smooth transition for your child to our center. We highly recommend that all families complete this process, as we believe it is essential for both you and your child to feel welcomed, comfortable, and settled before commencing care. Upon acceptance of the position, we arrange the first induction meeting, which includes a parent-educator interview, meeting the staff, and obtaining an overview of the service. All necessary enrollment forms, including immunization forms, custody forms, and any medical management forms, must be completed before your child starts care.
During the orientation period, we recommend a two-week period where you stay with your child in the room and/or in our parent room. This allows for a smooth and gradual transition for your child into our center.
Lastly, we pay our respects to the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. We thank the Elders, both past and present, for sharing their stories with us.
Join us at Kensington Community Children's Co-Operative, where we provide quality education, a nurturing environment, and a cooperative community that values the uniqueness of each child.
