Welcome to Melton West Preschool, located at West Melton Drive in Melton West, Australia. We are an establishment that is dedicated to empowering and inspiring Victoria's children and young people. With a rich history dating back to 1883, we have been supporting and empowering young people through meaningful connections for over a century.

We strongly believe in the power of play in a child's development. Play allows children to learn about others and themselves while exploring a wide range of experiences. Through play, children build self-confidence and gain skills in effective communication. Our learning environment promotes a sense of community and group identity while respecting individual children. We celebrate the diversity of our community and value the knowledge each individual family brings.

We also encourage a love for nature and foster respectful attitudes towards living and non-living things. Our connection to nature shapes a child's love for the land and country, and we take pride in learning about the First Nations People and the Wurundjeri People whose land our kindergarten resides on.

Our educators play a significant role in facilitating play through continuous improvement of practice and critical reflection. We draw our beliefs from developmental and socio-cultural theories, focusing on hands-on learning, self-discovery, support, and the natural environment.

Located next door to the Melton West Primary School, our two-room kindergarten is part of the Melton West Community Centre. We have an extensive playground with various equipment, a sandpit, swings, and a cubby house. Our garden features native trees and plants, including a vegetable garden that the children maintain. We value sustainability and the influence it brings to taking care of the environment.

At Melton West Preschool, we have a strong team of educators who have been working together for a number of years. We are dedicated to providing high-quality education and care to children throughout their developmental stages. We believe that every child deserves a quality education and advocate for the inclusion of all children in our programs.

We are excited to be a part of the Victorian Government's Best Start, Best Life reform, which makes kindergarten programs free for three and four-year-old children starting in 2023. This initiative can save you and your family up to $2,500 per year for your child's program.

We understand that every child is unique and will meet milestones at different times. Toilet training is not a requirement for attending our kindergarten, and we are here to support you and your child through this process.

As a sun-safe organization, we provide child-friendly sunscreen. However, if your child has sensitive skin, you are welcome to provide your preferred brand.

Lastly, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We celebrate diversity and value the lived experience of people from all walks of life.
