This collaboration includes a state-of-the-art laboratory in Southport on the Gold Coast, led by Dr. Lloyd McGuire. With this addition, our offering to doctors now includes a high-quality laboratory with digital reporting capabilities, ensuring the highest standards of service.

Our team of dermatopathologists, led by Professor Ruth Salom, is approachable and dedicated to providing the best care for our patients. We offer onsite clinical pathology training, SCARD reporting on your behalf, and incorporate digital dermoscopy into our reporting process. Additionally, we provide patient recall services to enhance clinical outcomes and patient follow-up.

Through our extensive network, we can assist with doctor recruitment and provide support with onboarding and training. Our team of highly esteemed dermatopathologists is available for direct consultation regarding patient diagnostic outcomes, clinical training, and support.

Ian, the founder of Southern Sun Pathology, has been exclusively focused on the clinical and pathological diagnosis and management of skin cancer since 2002. With his extensive experience and qualifications, including MBBS, M Phil, FRACGP, FRCPA, AFRCMA, and Dip Practical Dermatology, you can trust in his expertise.

Our clinical correlation network is spearheaded by Robert, who combines his clinical and dermatopathologist experience to provide complete patient care. Robert is a Senior Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital and an Associate Professor at the University of Western Sydney.

Teresa Yung and Shanti are also integral members of our team, with years of experience in clinical and pathologic diagnosis of skin cancer. Their passion and expertise contribute to the high-quality service we provide.

As part of our commitment to staying at the forefront of skin cancer detection technology, we have partnered with Dempath.AI to explore the applications of artificial intelligence in dermatopathology, further enhancing our diagnostic capabilities.

We offer pathology reports via various secure methods, including Secure Messaging Service, Secure Website, Fax, Hard Copy, or Eclair. Results are typically ready within 24 hours after receipt in the laboratory. We recommend patients make an appointment with their doctor about one week after the specimen is taken to discuss the results.
