About the Business
Welcome to Addison Road Community Organisation, located at 142 Addison Road in Marrickville, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to working with the community to elevate human rights, arts and culture, and sustainability.
At Addi Road, we are proud to be leaders in the grassroots #RacismNotWelcome campaign, with our Ambassador Craig Foster. We stand in solidarity with diverse communities in times of need, fighting against discrimination and promoting inclusivity.
One of our main initiatives is our food rescue program. Every week, we divert over 8 tonnes of food from landfill and provide food to more than 8,000 people through our two Addi Road Food Pantries and Food Relief Hub. This wouldn't be possible without the dedication of our hundreds of volunteers and generous donors. Donations are the lifeblood of our food relief efforts, as we are not government funded. We are grateful for any support, and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
We believe that access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food is a human right. Our Addi Road Food Pantry is here to help anyone in need stretch their budget, reduce food waste, and put healthy food on their table.
In addition to our food relief efforts, we also host various events and screenings. For example, we recently had a documentary screening and Q&A for The Voice Referendum, raising important questions and promoting discussions. We also showcase multimedia works by talented artists, such as Nick Wishart.
We are proud to share that Addi Road has won a NSW Multicultural Communications Award. Our film, 'Die. Or Die Trying: Escaping the Taliban,' received recognition in the Public Interest Award category for outstanding public interest journalism upholding the NSW Multicultural Principles.
Addi Road holds a special place in history as the birthplace of multiculturalism in Australia. The grounds, which were once an army depot, were handed over to the community in 1976. Prior to that, it served as cheap housing, a market garden, and a brick-making site. Going even further back, it was a seasonal wetland cared for by the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, particularly the Gadigal people, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which our centre is located. We honor their unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters, and seas, as well as their significant contributions to society.
At Addi Road, we strive to make a positive impact on our community and beyond. Join us in our mission to support those in need, promote equality, and celebrate diversity. Together, we can create a better future for all.

"Lucked in with a beautiful sunny Sydney morning. Checked out lots of lovely stalls loaded with goodies. Filled our 2 bags we'd allowed for and went home happy."
"Went to the Marrickville markets and was very disappointed. It's lost it's zing and way too expensive for food items. Buying food from market stalls set up in a carpark should either be cheap or unique."
"Nice compound with many places inside. There is plenty of parking and signs to let you know what you are looking for. My favourite place's The Food Pantry with cheap groceries and Cafe It's Made in Egypt . Also I noticed people using the drop n earn where you take you returnable bottles."
"Plenty of businesses including Egyptian street food corner, vintage store, florist, business that offers art classes."
