About the Business
Welcome to Steel Park Waterplay Park, located on Illawarra Road in Marrickville, Australia. As an amusement park, establishment, park, point of interest, and tourist attraction, we offer a unique and exciting experience for visitors of all ages.
Steel Park Waterplay Park is a water playground that comes alive during the warmer months. With a variety of water fountains and sprinklers, it provides a refreshing and entertaining way to beat the heat. But our park is more than just a fun place to cool off – it was designed to educate and inspire.
One of the main features of our waterplay park is its focus on the water cycle. We have implemented innovative systems to ensure that the water used in the park is treated and recycled responsibly. Runoff from the park, car park, and surrounding streets is carefully filtered through grassed swales and rain gardens before it enters the Cooks River. This not only helps to protect the river's water quality but also creates a sustainable and environmentally friendly experience for our visitors.
In addition to the waterplay area, we have also created a man-made saltmarsh on the banks of the Cooks River. This saltmarsh serves as a natural filter, further enhancing water quality by removing nutrients and run-off. It is a testament to our commitment to preserving and improving the natural environment.
At Steel Park Waterplay Park, we value feedback from our visitors. Your input helps us continuously improve the content and offerings of our park. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all, as we believe in the power of diversity and the strength it brings to our community.
We would like to acknowledge that the land on which Steel Park Waterplay Park stands traditionally belonged to the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora nation. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present.
Our park is open Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 8:30 am to 5 pm. So come and join us for a day of fun, learning, and relaxation at Steel Park Waterplay Park in Marrickville, Australia.

"38 degrees on Sunday and they closed down every one was wondering what was going on we had to walk back in the heat and cool him off under the hose I so put a complaint in they rang me and told me that they had to the water I told them that we are not going back there and they could of did it when everyone was at on Monday"
"Water play area to be avoided. The rest is pleasant park/playground and picnic but try keeping little kids away from the water. Anxious parents and grandparents on tender hooks supervising kids and aware of how badly designed this area is. Trip hazards, slip hazards, all hard surfaces, bricks. Parents commenting on how dangerous and poorly designed it is. Two really bad kiddie accidents this morning in the space of half an hour when I was there with my grandson in the poorly designed water play area. One child tripped and fell out of the ‘water cradle’ (tub-like structure all concrete) onto the rock hard rough tiled surface below. Her head narrowly missed the brick edge. Awful. Ten minutes later a little boy slipped on the smooth tiles in the lower water section and smacked the back of his head and his tailbone on the tiles. No thanks. To add to all that the pumps were not working and a large pool of stagnant water had gathered at the lower end of the play area."
"A great gem and one to add to the kids playground on rotation. Plenty of shade, great water play area and picnic area. A variety of playground equipment. Wheelchair accessible."
"Large open plan playground with flying fox, swings and trampolines. Shaded by trees and partially fenced along the river. Bbq, picnic tables and bubbler. Rubber floor and woodchip floor. Water play area is shaded with shade cloths. Partially fenced. Creek bed style water area and water fountains. Nearby poorly maintained toilet. No nearby cafe. Lots of parking."
"Great park. Better than I expected. Very family and kid friendly. There could of been more of the water park features but its a good start with plenty of room for expansion. There is free driving water. Toilets. Plenty of trees for shade which is great. I would come here again for sure."
