"Excellent Burmese food that made me miss home. Went there with a friend who’s also away from home for 3 years. Arrived around 5:15 pm as they just started for dinner service. Ordered Monhinga, coconut noodle, buthee kyaw and laphet thote. Mohinga - superb Coconut noodles - I loved it as it didn’t taste like restaurants in Yangon but like homemade as my grandmother used to cook, very nostalgic Buthee kyaw - made from scratch when ordered and the coating is mmmmm Laphet thote - just a regular lapet thote you’d see in Myanmar but will make you homesick Overall, portions are generous, more than enough for 2 people. And don’t forget pel kyaw (chickpea fritters) to pair either with mohinga or ohn no khauk swe (coconut noodles)"
"It’s our 2nd time here, restaurant interior has been upgraded. Cozy dinning place. Good price and authentic Burma food. Recommended their chili chicken and friend noodles dish. Excellent services too"
"Very yummy food and had a great dining experience in a Sunday afternoon. Our first time having Burmese food and it exceeded our expectations! The staffs there are very welcoming and attentive. We say over the opening hour, but they didn't mind at all. Would definitely come again!"
"We came here on a whim for something novel and the pickled Tea Leaf Salad definitely fulfilled that wish. The bitterness of the fermented tea leaves were offset by the crunchy legumes and nuts, shredded cabbage and diced tomatoes, creating a fascinating combination of textures and flavours. The Fish Noodle Soup combined spices and condiments that piqued the tastebuds to a new level without overwhelming them. The dish was comforting on a cold, wintry evening. The Chicken with Eggplant was a little too salty for our palette, but the coconut rice was so fragrant that we polished it all off. With only two people covering the kitchen and front of house, there was a small wait, but the owner was so friendly we didn't mind. Lip licking aromas wafted over from the open kitchen throughout the visit, building a sense of anticipation. Overall, a good experience and we would return to experience the other offerings on the menu."
"Burmese food is so different to other cuisines flavour wise and make sure to give the salads a try, especially pickled tea leaf salad. My third time coming here and the food never disappoints. The new owners are super lovely too and it is good to hear about their vision regarding the future of the restaurant. Coming to Burmese House had become a tradition now whenever I visit Melbourne. To non Burmese folks, please give this place a visit and you will be immersed in foods full of fresh flavours."
