Reviews
"The food is reasonably good however the people that run the restaurant are so unfriendly. Quite rude and very impolite."
"From the authentic Chinese service / phone manner to the perplexing name, this place screams authentic Aussie Chinese. The food is definitely better than your average Chinese takeaway and goes down bloody well with a bottle of McLaren Vale Shiraz from Wine Haven in Killarney Heights. Get with the programme."
"Overpriced for below average food and poor portions. After being unable to find a menu online for this restaurant, I decided to take a risk. The risk did not pay out. I ordered sang choy bow, fried dim sims, fried rice and honey king prawns. The woman who took my order was quite abrupt and refused to tell me how much the order would be. She just hung up on me like she was in a rush. When I went to pick it up, there were no dine-in customers and mine was the only takeaway order that I could see, so I was surprised for the abruptness over the phone. I was shocked that they were asking for close to $70 for this!! I regrettably paid and went home. I was disappointed with the sang choy bow - the meat was greasy, there was enough meat for about 8 servings (when the dish is meant to serve 4), and the 4 lettuce leaves that came with the dish were minuscule. Dim sims were okay. The honey prawns didn’t have enough honey sauce to accompany each serving, and the $30 price tag that came along with it was shocking for only 12 prawns. This is the second time I’ve ordered food from here, and don’t think I’ll be going back."
"We regularly order take away or home delivery from FU KWAI Frenchs Forest. On the 5th attempt tonight, I was finally able to get through and was told there were no home deliveries due to the restaurant being too busy. Understandable with the lockdown so I placed an order at 6:50pm and was told it would be ready for pick up in 45 minutes. My daughter and I went to pick up the order and waited outside until the order was finally ready at 8:48pm – 2 minutes off 2 hours. My daughter did not want to make a fuss but I told the owner Alice that a 2 hour wait was not acceptable. Her reply was that the chicken was frozen for 2 hours. Surely they have been in the game long enough to know that they would run out of product due to the high volume of orders they were accepting and as that was the case, they should have stopped taking orders for the evening. At no time did Alice come outside to advise the people waiting patiently that there was going to be a long delay due to the chicken having to be defrosted and that they were one staff member down due to the staff member having to go into quarantine. The owner is known to be constantly frazzled and stressed and communication can be very frustrating to say the least, all of which are overlooked as the food is generally good. We understand the discount for pick up being scrapped in 2020 due to Covid, we have overlooked that debit and credit card transactions are charged a fee and we know that it is cash only for home delivery (I was 20 cents short recently and had to go back inside to find 20 cents) and we understand the prices have gone up more than once. On this occasion tonight, however, I was extremely annoyed at the complete lack of management and professionalism on the owner’s behalf and lack of care about the absurd wait time. The young staff member manning the phones appeared to be the one person who was handling the situation professionally ... kudos to her. Having read through quite a number of negative reviews tonight, the food is not an issue but other aspects are and the game needs to be lifted."
"I tried this restaurant last night and was very impressed with the quality of food. Having worked in cafes and restaurants I can understand the pressures of trying to get 20-30 orders out at once and not turn away customers. I did find Alison who is a lovely person slightly hard to understand and she was in a hurry, that is due to rushing to the need to answer the phone and help things run smoothly in the kitchen/ packing food etc. The Fried rice was the best I have ever had- very generous portions of meat-prawns chicken and ham and not too oily- just fantastic! the honey chicken was tender and perfectly cooked and the dressing kept separate which is great as you can control your sweetness and caloric intake! We got extra prawn chips as a nice, unordered bonus. My friend had Mongolian lamb and she said the meat was delicious ,tender and lovely flavour. We were told 20 mins and the food was ready absolutely in 20 mins. Good quality food is not just cooked left in microwave and heated in 2 minutes to make it easy. The chef cooked all our food fresh and you can taste the difference. Highly recommend!"
