APX Darling Harbour 8 Dixon Street, Sydney, New South Wales 2000

"As I have not received an adequate response to my complaints in a month, I will post my initial complaint here. "Hi there, I stayed at APX Darling Harbour on July 21st and had some complaints, but nobody has responded to me yet. When I called to book, I specifically ensured that there was parking onsite and asked if I needed to book or pay in advance and was told no - i confirmed more than once during the phone call. When I got there I was informed that parking did need to be booked in advance, and my partner ended up having to find a nearby parking garage. There were several cockroaches in the room, both in the kitchenette and on the bed, please see attached photos. The bed itself was 2 singles pushed together which would have been fine of they were connected in any way. I barely slept as I kept waking up and having to push the bed back together- I eventually was so tired that I gave up and slept on the floor. For over $220 for the night, I don't believe that this was an acceptable experience, and it really put a dampener on the end of my birthday party.""

"Hotel was fine for the price. Great location for our needs. However after putting a hold on my credit card ( even though room was paid in full ) and being assured it would only be held for 3 days it’s now one month since and the money is still pending. Have called my bank and held release date from Apx for the transaction was one month and one day from the date of my visit. Also called Hotel administration multiply times about the issue. Wouldn’t go back for this reason only. I was fine with a 3 day hold but more than one month is ridiculous."

"Room was basic but fine, but they took $200 as a 'security deposit' and 3.5 weeks later they still hadn't given back the money. so I called and they said they released it after holding onto it for 2.5 weeks, and that I should call my bank, so now on hold for 35 minutes to my bank to try and get the money back 1 month later. so annoying that they didn't give back the deposit, and still haven't got it back..........."

"Very happy with our room here.. big and spacious and a huge balcony. Large bathroom, comfy big bed and good amenities. The location is very central to China Town and DH.. only downsides were the TV reception was terrible and the reception staff too busy on their phone to acknowlegse us. Would definitely stay here again."

"Good budget, apartment style hotel in a great location. Granted that budget is a relative term and prices are quite high in the Sydney market so you may need to adjust your expectations. Room I had was very large and clean with a large terrace. Sure there some scuff marks on walls and the furniture and bathroom were dated but consistent with what I would expect for the style of accommodation. I stayed 4 nights and housekeeping came once, again what I would expect for an apartment hotel. Additional towels were available on request from reception. Small kitchen with fridge, microwave and tea kettle. There were also a washer and dryer in the bathroom which I didn't use. Check in and Check out very easy. Great location near the bottom of Liverpool street. Lots of food options around and a short walk to Hyde Park."
