"Can't fault it. Friendly reception staff, clean room and comfy bed. Breakfast off site was only a short walk around corner."
"Me and my boyfriend stayed here for three nights end of October. I will start with the pros of our stay; The room was lovely, clean, got great views of the sea, peaceful no noise. The staff was pleasant when leaving and coming from the hotel. The cons of our stay; on our arrival we realised the shower did not work properly and would only give out boiling hot water. I called reception and someone came up straight away to look at it, but it really needed a plumber as the dial was just broken. We got told that we could use room 13 for the shower for our stay, so we put our toiletries in that shower. The next day we had the cleaner bring all our toiletries back to us and were told that we didn't have that room anymore. I spoke to reception and they said they could only allow us to use the room on the Friday and we won't be able to have a shower on Saturday because they were fully booked, but they could move us into room 16 on Sunday. We then moved into room 16 on Sunday, went to use the shower and it flooded the bathroom as there was drainage issue. On Sundays no staff work at the hotel. You have a mobile number to call someone and no answered. As it was our last night I thought I would just wait till the morning. Spoke to the man on reception who apologised for the issues and informed me that I was unable to have a refund because we stayed at the hotel, but could give is a free 1 night stay with breakfast. He was going to send an email which I have not received. I have tried to call the hotel to be told I need to speak with the manager who is only available between the hours of 8am till 9am. Yet he is never there when I call. It is a shame because it could be a lovely place."
"Having visited Portsmouth to see friends, we booked two rooms for a night. Q8 Hotel was friendly, welcoming and polite on arrival. The rooms were modern, well looked after and inviting. Great value for money. The walk in shower was lovely in a decent sized bathroom. Perfect place to stay when visiting Portsmouth, just as good (if not better) than the larger chains!"
"The room was clean and nice. Unfortunately the matress was worn out and we couldn’t sleep at all. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel: for having breakfast, you got a voucher to spend in a cafe nearby. We had an inconvenience with payment and the hotel gave us 2 breakfast vouchers to apologize. Even though it was a service offered by the hotel, it was closed on Monday morning. It was Sept. 19th so we were fully aware that “standard” cafes and bars would have been closed to pay their respect to HM. They gave us the vouchers on Sunday evening for the next morning so we thought that the cafe would have been opened for serving breakfast at least for the hotel guests only. When we arrived on Monday morning at the cafe and found out it was closed, the “sorry for the inconvenience” vouchers sounded like a mockery to us since they gave them to us only the night before! We try to reach out to the hotel by email but we never got a reply."
