"Nice enough location, looks great from outside however whilst bedrooms are quite large they let themselves down with the poor finishing details. Cracked tiles in bathroom, scruffy around edge of the bath, poor painting and general decoration. No handle on wardrobe. Had to ask multiple times for somebody to attend the bar. Breakfast in morning not up to much. Flask tea and coffee and cold food. Dinner in the marquee was however quite nice. I have stayed in nicer and for cheaper. Would I stay again, no. Funnily enough I stayed in the hotel many years ago and I was very impressed."
"Lovely building and grounds but tired interior. No flowers to brighten up the rooms and hallways. Spacious room with great view of gardens. Quiet at night but overheated. Bedroom had peeling blinds and boxing in bathroom coming away from walls. I think probably lockdown has had a bad impact on investing in what is a lovely venue. Breakfast was nice but muesli would have been better than the other very sugary choices, for me. Staff were pleasant."
"Had a good night. Food for a Christmas do, was good especially the gravy and roast potatoes. The Italian duo entertainment was fabulous. However the house red Spanish wine was unpalatable. We just couldn't drink it. We had a poor reaction from customer service.. My advice is don't buy if at £22 a bottle it can be bought for £5.95. Not a good service hence 3 stars"
"We only booked for afternoon tea, we were using a voucher, received as a gift. The hotel is in a stunning setting, inside is also very nice, albeit a bit chilly on a cool day towards the end of November. The staff were very pleasant, although our waitress seemed to disappear after serving us, obviously, due the lack of staff members she had other duties to attend. The food was nice, but not a lot of it, I have never been served such small scones and pastries. We had to look for a staff member to replenish our drinks and then again to actually pay as there was nobody about. The lack of staff needs to be addressed by the hotel, as it has put us off going back there and also recommending this lovely hotel."
