"Not sure if I can mention who followed me, but A. was wonderful and the process was quite smooth for me. Extremely accommodating of schedule changes. I did CBT for social anxiety; yesterday I graduated and I was able to be on stage, I would have never made it without what I have learned! Thank you."
"I had some treatment with Dr. Joshua Buckman, who was absolutely wonderful! Meetings can feel a little bit off-track sometimes, but I left every session feeling better than the hour before, and with time my overall mental health has also improved. The general service is a bit slow with getting back to you (it took me almost a month to set up appointments with them) but this is expected under NHS treatments. It was great once I got my appointments."
"More than disappointing, I don't know if these people realise the effort it takes to seek help - I waited months for an appointment, we told that my case was quite severe and I'd need the max number of sessions - given that the first thing they do is try to fob you off by saying that the sessions are limited. I didn't even get one when Covid kicked in and I've never heard from them again, I phoned this week and they've even changed their phone number so left a message and had no response. It upsets me to think that these people are paid to do this job and are so crummy at it, the money could be spent elsewhere"
"A completely useless and demoralising experience. They advised me to self refer to another service at their earliest convenience, seemingly passing on the burden of offering any sort of help from place to place. I was told, in my first and only telephone assessment, that they believed that I found it difficult to recognise the cognitive processes behind my feelings of anxiety- I was told that they needed time to discuss my case with a supervisor. I was phoned back 2 days later and was told that I was unsuitable for CBT (the only treatment that was really offered to me, as they recommended that I seek counselling through my university) and that they could not help me. It was totally disheartening and upsetting, especially coming from a space that is meant to help those who are already mentally ill and have put in the time and effort (which are not easy to muster when unwell) to seek help for themselves. Disappointing in almost every way, but not surprising."
"Was referred by my GP. Initial assessment was in a couple of weeks and was told I’d start group therapy within approx a months time. Everything so far so good, it made me incredibly hopeful as my past experiences with therapy haven’t been great. 4 months later... (probably delayed due to the pandemic, but when you’re feeling pretty hopeless - it feels incredibly long) I start my group therapy. More like a lecture, which I actually preferred but I wouldn’t call it therapy as it’s not personal at all, it’s just trying to tick as many boxes as possible for a big group of people. The psychiatrist here recommended what tablets I take after having side effects from a few I tried in the past. Their recommendation gave me more side effects so my doctor asked them for a new recommendation - they told me I’m not in their care any more and I’ll need a referral from the GP (even though I HADNT been discharged yet). My third and final therapy session didn’t work - it was via video call and I know a fair few members of the group were having issues with the connection. We weren’t allowed back in the session. I emailed immediately to say there’s an issue with the connection to which they replied ‘sorry, you’re now discharged from our care...’ They offered a few further courses in the same email to which I replied to asking for more info and they have ignored me since. Personally wouldn’t recommend this group to anyone, incredibly disappointing and disheartening to be treated with such disregard on more than one occasion."
