Reviews of North Middlesex University Hospital
"Arrived at a&e at 8pm, seen reasonable quickly as I am on chemo and not mobile and female. However, no empathy by any of the staff initially and the place was filthy. Bins overflowing in clinic rooms. Once taken through and told I would be given a side room due to my condition and high risk of infection, I was placed on an armchair in a cubicle with 2 young men. Should a female patient be with two male patients, no !!! But thankfully they were nice. I remained sitting in this armchair for the next 20 hrs. Unable to elevate legs which resulted in severe swelling. As I was not mobile I was not offered a sip of water all night long. It appears that a large number of armchairs are been used instead of beds as armchairs are all numbered. So we have moved from patients on trolleys for hours to patients in armchairs. This is just not acceptable treatment for anyone who is unwell. As I had to share a room with others, there was no privacy to discuss your condition with doctors, so much for dignity & privacy. The whole department was filthy and yes the staff tried their best but when the basic human needs are not been met there is a failure in system. I would have scored 0 if I had the option."
"Brought my 87 year old dad and waited around 2 hours at A&E after the initial registration Dr.Rosalyn Buckland saw us and she was the most caring, gentle, through and patient Dr I’ve ever seen. She sent us to all relevant test and kept checking in on us to make sure that we was okay! What an Amazing person. The reason for 3stars is we spent the night on chairs as No beds and the nurses weren’t very helpful at all. It feels like nobody really cares, one has to ask for something numerous times before being done."
"I have arrived to this hospital at 13:20 with high blood pressure 182/118, and been seen my nurse only at 14:50 just to check my BP, which was still high. The nurse said that it is not very high, whereas in other hospitals patients like me seen as soon as possible! Still waiting if doctor will want to see me. I might leave this place as nothing is taken in consideration. People pay for NI, but do they deserve such as poor service? No mutter how busy are they, it has to be better please."
"This hospital is a shambles. I took my daughter to A&E and she was sent away after tests saying everything is fine even though she needed painkillers for the pain she was in. Also, the blood tests for children used to be a walk in service, no appointment necessary. Now, you have to call up to book and there's nothing available for a month. I went there not knowing it's changed to appointment only and even though the place was dead they still were adamant I have to call up. Something that was simple and easy has now been made unnecessarily difficult. What nonsense."
