"Lovely relaxed hotel. Made to feel most welcome from start to finish. All staff very helpful and lovely service. Arrived early. Room was ready so was allowed to head straight to room. Room 136. Hotel has two golf courses so ideal if you are a keen golfer. If not nice to walk around the grounds and nature walk. Only ate in the brasserie which made room for us even tho had no booking so would recommend to book if planning to eat there. Plenty of place to sit and relax. Enjoyed a swim, sauna and steam room tho it can get busy. Made use of driving range even tho don't play golf. Clubs to use by desk if you want to try. Has an ice machine if you want to chill drink in your room. Has a pool table which is free to use. Didn't make use of the tennis courts. Would recommend a stay at this hotel."
"1. Very pleasant staff. 2. Deluxe King Room with safe and fridge was excellent 3. Hotel grounds lovely. 4. Evening meal disappointing, very limited choice, expensive and no better than the average gastro pub. 5. Buffet breakfast, the equivalent of a Holiday Inn Express - basic 3 star. You would imagine being in Scotland that porridge would be available without an additional cost. 6. The pool is a good size and very warm, also a good steam room and sauna, there isn't a jacuzzi. 7. Transport to Edinburgh city centre. Allow 15 minutes to get from the hotel to the main gate, which opens out onto a very busy A71. Immediately opposite across the road is the bus stop, you can catch the X22, X27 or X28, a day ticket is £5:50p for an adult. Off peak takes 30 minutes and returning during the peak period took an hour. So in summary a nice hotel let down by the food. So my advice is stay at the hotel but eat elsewhere. A final thanks goes to the concierge who couldn't have been more helpful."
"Hotel was situated in a great location. It’s absolutely stunning from the outside and delightful inside. Staff are all very welcoming and friendly, eager to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as it possibly can be. Facilities - no major complaints apart from the bathroom being a bit dated, the shower didn’t provide enough coverage and pressure and we also had an issue with the cold water tap on the sink which never got resolved. That is the only complaint as the golf courses are brilliant, nature walks - delightful and the pool and leisure complex, awesome (especially with the water temperature of the pool)."
"We couldn't fault the hotel. From check in (which was really busy!!) We were seen to very quickly, and given all the information we needed, served with a smile by happy enthusiastic staff, first impressions, go a long way, and the staff here nailed that. The rooms are great, big & clean and quite well kitted out. The whole hotel is immaculate. The pool area is great, changing rooms etc are all immaculate, pool sauna and steam room are fantastic! We ate in the Brasserie, although again the staff went above and beyond, the food was poor at best and VERY overpriced for what we got. The burger was like a school canteen meal!! BUT the highlight of our whole trip, George!! George the bar man in the cocktail bar was simply the best, I've never seen such attentiveness whilst running a ridiculously busy bar! He couldn't have been better, made our trip! If not already, he should be promoted and given a payrise!! Credit where credits due, its the likes of George who make this hotel what it is, and that should absolutely be noticed!"
"Out of Edinburgh but not far from a decent train service, an ideal spot to stay and visit the city without all that noise and fuss. From the initial welcome to checking out the service was top notch and everyone, including the decorator, was pleasant and polite. The front of house team were very professional and helpful, and friendly. The room I stayed in was clean, smelled nice and very well maintained. I didn't get chance to try out any of the other amenities but I'll definitely be back for a longer stay."
