"Booked months ago for girlfriends birthday to cheer her up. Got there and it was closed. Naff notice at door on piece of scrap paper. Best thing ever judging by recent reviews. Whatever your problems, inform booking agency to stop people turning up. We ended up having a great stay at travellers rest inn at Brough. What a horrible run down place bowling green looked. Made our stay even better knowing what we had escaped from. Stay well clear at all costs and stay at travellers rest!!!!!"
"This place really was poor. I booked it a couple of months earlier (it was expensive like many other hotels and b&bs in the area) and I pre-paid for it and for breakfast for myself and my partner. As soon as we arrived, we realised we’d made a big mistake. The room we were given in the annex was poky and run down. It was full of cobwebs and had probably not been properly cleaned for months. I asked what time breakfast was, only to be told they “didn’t do breakfast”. I explained to the barman that I’d already paid for it and the website was even saying that “free breakfast” was included but he simply said they didn’t do it so I should ask for a refund. He told me to contact the manager. When I asked where the manager was, he told me that the manager was away and nobody knew when he’d be back. How very convenient! In addition, you have to leave the room by 10am, which is quite early. In this case, my partner and I were only too happy to vacate the room early. We won’t be going back to the Derbyshire Dales and staying overnight again in a hurry if every hotel and b&b risks being like this!! That’s for sure!!"
"Extremely disappointing meal. The menu was very limited - more sandwich options than main course. French fries were cold, scampi very well done. Kitchen looked dirty and the whole pub and menu in desperate need of irenovating."
"Thought it looked nice. Rolled up to check-in. Had to queue at the bar and wait while he served the drinks queue then he took me to the room which was quiet and neat but not too clean. Shower was minute and handle broken. The knob inside came off in your hand. We were woken at 3 am by a party of drunks who had been drinking at the bar all night. Breakfast was awful. A hot water urn with instant coffee. No fruit or cold ham or cereal. Won't be back. Choose somewhere else."
"Stayed at this B&B over a few days and everything was fantastic. It was great value for money, the location was stunning, the people running it were also lovely. Breakfast was delicious and I have to say that the evening food was also incredible. Generous portions, great quality and not forgetting the good pints! Thank you very much :)"
